: Marlin Tack with ARB

With a ARB in the front, is it necessary to run a Marlin tac if you dont' want to run the inner birf clip?
Also has anyone been running the stronger axle shafts that CV unlimited sells? I remember spaceghost saying he was running moshers with his longfields.
Thanks Tom

I hope the tack isn't needed, cause I'm not running it with my ARB. I am also interested in the CV Unlimited inners. I am currently running a long side Dutchman custom and a stock short side (the Dutchman broke).

Mike how's things been going? I like the recent tubing. The plate's been working good. Just got my rock box and have been putting that in. I talked to Franklin at CV unlim. and he said they are 40% stronger and $250. I broke my first newfield in the inner cage and spun the splines on the inner shaft. Short side. I've been trying to stock up on inner shafts. Did you have to grind on the inner part of the housing to get the lonfields to fit?

Glad to hear the plates working as you expected. I had already ground out the ball area to fit mini birfs when I did the mini knuckle out conversion. No additional grinding is needed to fit Longfields.

Thanks for the compliment on the tube work.

I just got thru installing Longfields in 2 different 40's with the ARB front, on both the inner axle would go far enough into the 3rd so the seal was not riding on the smooth surface......so I did the Mar-tack.
I installed the axle with no joint on to verify prior to doing it.
Maybe it's not needed on all?
One was an 82 the other was a 73 drum axle modified,

I've been running without a marlin tack with ARB's. No problems.

If you already have Newfields, the longfields will fit just fine.

Just been finishing up the linkage then change the driveline length, then we will be back on the trail. I think the end crawl ratio will be 288 to 1.:D . My 79 housing was a real pain to ge the newfields out so i took the carbide burr anfd took a little off top and bottom. Slides out real nice now. I just ordered up some lonfields so the newfields are going to be my spares. Just still wondering about axle shafts???
