Just turn your headers around and upside down then cut your flanges off and add pipe until you get it to were you want it through the fenders then weld it all up

I can't speak for all areas, but anyplace I've ever been that type of exhaust would be illegal in competition because it directs the exhaust toward track officials and spectators. You need to point it up, down, or back, not OUT.

All these sets are custom built, usually a weld up kit with whatever you want on the end. We started doing them like this to keep the whole exhaust clean and without cutting holes in the hood for mud/water to come in to the engine compartment. When I take a header off mine it looks like a regular header just flipped upside down. I tried a regular truck header at first but it hit my shock tower, otherwise I think it would work, maybe have to take a little material out of the tubes to compensate for the opposite angle of the head.

For NMRO type of racing yes, I would hope so. For Mega Truck type of competition, no one cares as long as you don't plow into the crowd.

For any kind of racing actually. There's always going to be lineup guys working at trackside or staging (not to mention the guy parked next to you in the pits) & the last thing they want is your exhaust blasting 'em in the face (especially if you're on alcohol). A simple turnup on that opening would solve the issue.

check out IMCA style headers... that what i used on my truck... bought the headers and 60 degree collectors from speedway motors.... they dumped out right at the bottom of the fender just in front of the door.

The reason for not pointing exhaust straight out on any vehicle in competition is because if there is an internal failure in the engine such as a piston failing or the head coming off of a valve then it will most likely come out through the exhaust. When you are talking about high compression high performance engines the exhaust velocity can be great enough to make anything like this a projectile and can be very deadly to officials or spectators.

Not mine, but it kind of points away from the crowd:
