I have been messing with the stock GM ECM's for some time trying to get my Tuned Port Injection to perform right. I finally said fawk it and ordered an Accel DFI Generation 7 ECM and an Accel Dual Sync Distributor, the combination of the two will allow me to run in Sequential Fuel Injection mode. The software is fully tuneable and very easy to work with, in under 30 minutes I was running the heck out of my new engine. I just started the tedious process of hiding all the friggin wires... Man what a PITA, I just finished stuffing an MSD 6ALN Ignition box and the Gen 7 ECM into my glove box area on my CJ-7. I have been in some tight squeezes but this one takes the cake.
If you are considering this as an option for you Fuel Injection control box I say go for it! Here are a couple of pictures of the install and the engine I am wiring in....

This is the backside of the DFI unit were the MSD 6ALN now lives, I also pulled the fuse and relay box of of a Phord Exploder and am using it as my central wiring box trying to clean up the mass of wires you see in the first pic. More to come after this stage is completed... :D
Good gawd you have added 50lbs of wire to that poor little jeep:eek::D:p
Glad it works for you.

So I take it you were running a 730 ECM before this? What kind of harness mods did you have to make? How much does this setup run? Is the software tuneable with a laptop or does it have its own special software? I've been messing with the factory ECM too (speed density) and this looks a lot easier than burning chips, not to mention it being sequential. That setup looks good, I'm interested. Got any more pics?

The Gen 7 unit comes with its own harness, unlike the stock setup with the injectors running in series and all firing at the same time the Gen 7 allows you to run in Sequential injection mode where the injectors fire seperatly so the stock harness CANNOT be used.
The system is fully programmable from your lap top, the nice thing is the base software is available for download for free from the Mr. Gasket website, the ECM with harness, Map Sensor, Heated O2 sensor, Coolant, Air intake and Manifold temp sensors are all included, along with the data cable needed to link it to your laptop for the unheard of price of 1475 dollars.. :eek: I know sorta pricey but after 9 months of fawking with the factory setup fighting pinging problems, glowing headers and what not I went with the GEN 7.
I just finished hooking up the dual sync distributor, the MSD box and swapped the settings over to sequential mode and this thing is AMAZING! Only took her for a 5 mile trip but I am VERY impressed....
I will snap a few more pics in the morning the engine bay is somewhat organized now!

Yeah :eek: is right. You know the saying though, if you wanna play.......
I'll keep messing with Winbin and the Pocket Programer for now, my engine really doesn't have a lot done to it. Definetly a sweet setup :cool:

efi=good
dfi=hell yha!
the new software still have inputs to ley you run dry "spray"? i did that on a older setup.. only way to go! i was able to hide all the nozles under the manifold and the computer provided all the fuel enrichment!
yha, the more you get to play with it the more you'll love it! i wont ever run a factory efi setup again...

So is the accel DFI favored over the Holley commander DFI. If so what are the reason's. I will be going this route soon when I return so just wondering your thought's or knowledge about the two.

The advantages of the Gen 7 are an easy to use Windows format, Sequential Injection mode, controls 3 stages of nitrous(dry) full torque converter lock up functions, Ability to use a wide band O2 sensor. 3 levels of tuning software based on your needs, plus the software is a free download from the MrGasket site so you can play before you pay!
I do not know much about the Commander 950, but a buddy of mine ran it for a total of 3 days and boxed it back up and sent it back. He runs 4 Tuned Port Camaros and said it was by far the biggest POS he had ever had. Take that for what it is worth... I know several people run the 950 but it did not have the features he needed..
