Pardon the newbie type Q but how do you know which axle is in the front of a 1974 Bronco with a 302 C4 and front drum brakes.

The truck is sight unseen so I don't know if it's a Dana 30 or a Dana 44.

Second Q;

If it is indeed a D44, will knucles from any Ford D44 bolt up to it? converting to disk brakes. I already know the issues with the Blazer knuckles, but what about F-150?s (79 and older of course)

I assume that if it is the Dana30 ..SOL?

thanks for any help

Nope, either way. Should be a rc 44, I believe, but both D30's and D44's use the same ball joins and therefore the knuckles are interchangeable. A ford knuckle should work for you...not sure of teh problems with the blazer knuckles, I would recommend either using flat top knuckles to do high steer, or better yet... get some of the new "indestructable" hi-steer knuckles from Bent and Twisted.. $110 ea, I beleive.

The early Bronco 66-77 never came with a RC/HP 44 it is either a 44 or a 30 these pictures will show the difference http://www.broncohio.com/tech/dana30dana44.html
I think you are thinking of the 78 and newer Broncos and the 30 and 44 knuckles are not the same
