The only trails I know:

Corral Hollow - unchanged except for a portion to be changed to Mixed use

Slick Rock Trail - changed to Highway legal vehicles only

Wolfsborough - Highway legal vehicles only

Sourgrass - changed to Highway legal vehicles only

Deer Valley South - no change

**********************************************

Slickrock also has some mitigation listed for the creek crossings.

I'll try to get more info, but at first glance, the trails I know are ok except that Highway legal vehicles only means no green sticker or red sticker vehicles will be allowed on those trails.

Bebe,

Do you know anything about "Ramsey"?

It's a private parcel along the river between Sourgrass and Wolfboro. I've driven down there before (a decade ago) but it might be a private access road only. I don't see roads to it on any of the current maps or even a few old FS maps, but I know there's access there.

Ten years ago the word was the owners didn't mind people down there on the 'off' weekends as long as they didn't trash the place.

Does the owner need to get his access road on the map?

It may have been purchased by the FS. The map shows all FS Land between Ramsey and Wolfborough. Wolfborough on this map is in the upper right hand corner in Red.

I was talking about the white section just to the left of the "R" in Ramsey on your map.

Although it shows as private I understand that the FS might have already purchased it.

There is no access road/trail to that section.

I skimmed thru contents and it looks like there are some restrictions on Wheeled Over the Snow Travel. I need to do more reading:shaking:

Season of Use

Except as allowed by permit or other authorization (i.e. routes identified for wheeled over snow use), native surface and non-native (aggregate and paved) surfaced NFTS motorized routes are open to motorized use only during the season of use shown below, unless specifically prohibited (see Season of Use Map).

1. Lower Elevations Open all year

2. Middle Elevations Open April 1 – November 30

3. Upper Elevations Open May 15 – November 30

Wet Weather Closures: During the season of use, all native surface routes are subject to wet weather closure when 1 inch of rainfall occurs in a 24 hour period and allowing for 72 hours of drying.

Wheeled Over Snow Use:

Wheeled over snow (WOS) use would be prohibited except by 4WD and ATVs when 12 inches or more of snow is present: on the routes listed in Table 2.02-2; or, where allowed by permit or other authorization.

Lets hope this doesn't change from DEIS to the ROD.

How will they ever enforce that?

Alternative 1 (Proposed Action)

This is the Proposed Action, as described in the Notice of Intent (72 Federal Register 222, November 19, 2007; p. 64988-64991), with corrections based on updated data and map information and refinements responding to the administration, motorized recreation, private property, recreation and resource issues raised during scoping (Chapter 1). These corrections and refinements provide additional motorized recreation opportunities, reduce conflicts and provide additional resource protection.

Alternative 1 (Proposed Action) is the Forest Service preferred alternative.

1. Cross Country Travel: Motor vehicle travel off NFTS routes by the public would be prohibited except as allowed by permit or other authorization. Parking is allowed within one vehicle length off of NFTS routes unless otherwise prohibited.

2. Additions to the NFTS: 157.39 miles of unauthorized routes would be added to the NFTS as trails (see Table 2.05-2). Appendix I (Route Data) shows the specified vehicle class, season of use and required mitigations.

3. Changes to the existing NFTS: Vehicle class changes would occur on 623.28 miles of NFTS roads. Season of use on all routes based on elevation and wet weather closures on native surfaced routes replaces all existing closures. Appendix I (Route Data) shows the specified vehicle class, season of use and required mitigations.

Vehicle Class

Table 2.02-1 shows vehicle class changes would occur on 623.28 miles of NFTS roads including: opening 67.96 miles of closed roads; converting 5.42 miles of closed roads to administrative use only; closing to public use 45.98 miles of open roads; converting 93.59 miles of roads from highway legal only to all vehicles; and, converting 400.49 miles of roads from all vehicles to highway legal only. This alternative also converts 63.06 miles of the 623.28 miles of NFTS roadsto trails (the mileage overlaps with the other changes described above and shown in Table 2.02-1 and Table 2.05-5).

Noticed that Boards crossing isn't on the Wheeled over the Snow road list. :shaking:

And those 5 month closures and really nice.
