: Fouled plugs

Now that it's running and the lights and guages work, I have a new issue. The jeep sat for about 2 years and I never started it or anything.

I have put new plugs, cap and rotor in.

I was stupid and didn't check the timing and ran it with timing at >20* BTDC for a day.. I thought it was just running bad from sitting up, but it didn't go away. I set the timing at 8* BTDC.

Ran a little better, but still felt like I was missing a cylinder. So I pulled the new plugs out to check their condition and #2 and #3 were gas soaked and burned.

I checked, and have strong spark on all cylinders.

So I thought maybe having the timing so far off fouled the plugs, so I replaced the bad ones with new ones again. (Now that the timing is set)

Ran like a champ.

For 3 minutes. Runs like crap again.

I had to put it down at the time but am going to do a compression test when I get home tonight. Any thoughts or advice? I'm thinkng stuck valve. And I have never rebuilt a valvetrain by myself.

Thanks in advance,
Kevin

I'll check when I get home and post up. I suspect it fouled at least two by the way it was running when i shut it off. I'll also post up compression readings tonight.

It fouled #2 and #3 again. But the wierd thing is, they have good compression.

dry compression test:

#1 = 0
#2 = 107
#3 = 110
#4 = 110
#5 = 120
#6 = 120

I'm going to put some oil in the cylinders tonight and test again to see if the readings change.
