At work today we put tires on a 2x4 dually seemed to be of the mid 80's vintage. I thought they only had 14 bolts, but this one had a D70. I know for a fact it wasn't a 14 bolt, and it was way too big to be a D60 (besides, the "70" cast into the housing was a clue)
Anyway, just curious what the deal is. Anyone know years/models these went in...?
I believe most of the 73 up body style dualies had the 70 in them. The new ones I have seen both. Cab and chassis trucks came with anarrow 14 bolt.

odee got it.
Always seemed odd to me they would use a different axle, even when there are at least three different widths of 14 Bolt. <IMG SRC="smilies/confused.gif" border="0">
Maybe a Spicer fan was in charge of "body" dually production?
