44.6 mph in the #117 Tracker during the LCQ could have used better shocks and more up travel in the rear.

I would assume those speeds were on the lakebed at mile 5. It was board flat and those guys were all screaming when they passed me.

72.5 prerunning, in second gear, still pulling, but running out of room before the turn off of Melville. 65ish during the race; we were trying to stretch the first tank of fuel, and the difference was only a few seconds, compared to the potential ten-to-fifteen-minute extra fuel stop (including driving to and from the pits).

65 was enough to pick up 3 spots and with the dust I ran out of balls.

Stop peeing in my cornflakes :flipoff2:

And still, flat or not, 114 mph on tires with that much sidewall and squirm is pretty damn impressive.

Screw the tires... They can handle that speed just fine. But how 'bout full hydro steering! :smokin:

#22 Trent Fab buggy went 81. I'm not fibbing when I say 81 in a rock racer is waaaaaay scarrier than 198 in a Porsche running door to door. I would've gone faster if it could have but I'm not complaining...I could feel it wanting to swap. Oh yeah, we didn't run a sway bar!

114??? omg! That's was almost freeway speed from what I heard! lol

:laughing::laughing::laughing::laughing:  So doing triple digits on 680 in the bay area in a KOH car is bad, right?

Wow, I didn't expect people to break speeds of 110mph! That is awesome. The photo below was taken on flat section of lakebed in the first 20 miles of the race, I'm pretty sure this is where speeds were the highest.

We got passed by probably 10 cars in the first desert loop while we were trying to drive a conservative pace. Everyone was nice and friendly even though we waved them on with our fingers. :flipoff2: The fastest car that passed us was Cassie Currie. He went past at probably 20-30mph quicker, and his motor wasn't close to the rev limiter. We kept waiting for Shannon's buggy, but it never happened.

86 in third around 3000 rpm. Drifting right with the cross wind. But we also hit 75-80 coming through parts of the desert for longer stretches. The car handled awesome.

But 114 is insane.:eek::grinpimp:

Easy.

We were running 70 at the end of the lakebed. Slowed down a bunch because I couldn't see squat from people's dust and I knew there was a good turn coming up. We had just passed Eric Holder 3/4 of the way across the lakebed doin maybe 75ish. That was the first real pass of the race besides Shannon a couple times. I had a huge grin blasting past a moon buggy just a few feet from it:D

We had been doing some prerunning in the area a few months before and saw speeds in the 80's. Nice and stable. We were still pulling, but you run out of room fast at 80mph. I always wondered how it would do on the freeway:evil:

You guys are awesome.

We managed to pick off 3 more cars before the lakebed, then we got into a crazy race with Clint Elett at 90+ MPH! He wouldn’t let us by but I finally overtook him at 100 MPH on a rougher line

Can't go wrong tradin' paint at 100.

Thanks for picking it up! The plaque on Sledge wiped it out, then it must have fallen off later on. Keep it, repair it, then bring it out to KOH 2010...and hopefully I don't change my paint scheme

52mph (according to the gps track) on the way back to camp from jack/sledge in the grizzly tracker :grinpimp: the hammers are fun no matter what you drive. :D

Twice as fast as that is crazy. Props to the 100+mph guys. A testament to driver skill and build quality for sure.

If it makes you feel any better, it's better in 3rd, the power steering pump slows down. We actually hit 3rd once in the race in high range, I was surprised. It didn't do much for us though, it got us "66, 67, 66, 65. Might as well go back to 2nd"
