The California OHMVR Division has opened the public review process for the Grants program. Looks like quite a few agencies and some non-profits are trying to get a piece of the money. Be sure to support the projects that you are familiar with and use substantiative comments. BE PROFESSIONAL!

The official due date is tomorrow, be interesting to see the total numbers "O" buy the way, Division also promised someone information on that day as to how the $90M "loan" will effect the program...TJ:smokin:

Which official due date? Grant applications were due by midnight last night and the public viewing is now on line.

Do you have an unofficial Talley of the amount being applied for? Your only looking at the ones that got in a little early, BRC I believe it was said "we had 30M in shovel ready projects ready to go". Just wondering how much actually gets submitted, perhaps Division is doing the same before they respond to the big question...TJ:smokin:

if you would like to see the comments submitted on a patictular grant request, go to this webpage

http://ohv.parks.ca.gov/?page_id=25740

if the grant request is in blue, comments have been submitted on it and you can click on it and read what was said and by whom. as of today there are only two grants that have received comments. I sent one in last night at 7pm and they had it loaded on this website this morning.

Bebe's thread has my blood pressure up,

Ive been reading some of these grants, and I dont understand how the mojave land trust can aquire a piece of land and because of past ohv use put forth a grant to charge the ohv funds for restoration and to close it down for future ohv use, their website has some strict anti ohv propaganda in it.
My question is to the lu gurus, is this a normal funtion for the ohv funding or does it warrant signifigant comments

I can't understand how the USFS feels they can use Green Sticker funds to further close an already closed 11N88.

That does not promote OHV's.

Good to see you around again Terry

My feeling is if you see something in the grants that looks funny, make a comment on it. Thats what I have been doing. Lets questions anything that looks like a poor use of OHV funds.

On the other side if you see something you agree with, send a positive comment on that too.

though it has only been a few days, only 4 of the grants have comments posted on them....two of those are from me....we all need to voice our comments for and against these grants

Main thing is if you see something you think is factually wrong, such as claims of opportunity that may not exist, or if someone wants a grant for setting a time line to shut down the sport  yeah I think we should say something..TJ:smokin:

This is the first year that the non-profit groups can submit grant requests, so it is uncharterted ground.

It is a new day for OHMVR -- State Bill 742 wrests back control of funds from a closurist comission... the anti's still haven't accepted that. Comment any grant that doesn't help OHV! Yeah, there is $7.6 million available for Restoration, but let's prioritize that for instances where restoration allows continued access, like when a trail is rerouted to a new alignment and the old trail needs rehab'ed. Obliterating routes without opening other opportunity ain't so grand.

Don't forget to check the other category's, I heard there going to also try and find "creative ways" to even use O&M money to fuel their agenda, gone are the day when O&M was our money and Restoration their money...TJ:smokin:

With the past makeup of the OHMVR Commission, WE didn't even have the O&M money!
