: Running 57" springs up front...what type of mounts?

I'm trying to figure out which would be best. My blazer needs to be able to be driven on the road, so it can't be a complete pain in the @ss to drive. I'm going to swap 57" springs up front. My question is, should I use shackles or spring mounts? I just don't know if shackles would move too much for on road driving. They'd flex better, but I have to be able to drive this thing on the road. Opinions, thoughts?

I am unsure what you mean by that
one end of the spring must be mounted solidly to the frame unless you plan on having another locating link

I was thinking of using compression type shackles but I don't know if that would be solid enough for the front axle since it's a steering axle.

Speken de Deutch? See habla Englese? ;)

I guess we are all just confused. Compression shackles are the norm (stock) for front springs. And, like mj said, you gotta have one end hard mounted with the other shackled (compression or suspension) if you don't have locating links...

I cannot figue what you are trying to do
spell it out
which end of the spring is going to be hard mounted? F or R
tension shackle will be mounted where? above or below frame rail

with the stock spring perch distance on the axle I cannot see a tension shackle working without fabbing a strange looking hanger that puts it directly under the frame
to do that and have a long enough shackle it would have to hang very low below the frame
I doubt that you are thinking about doing that, so I/we need more info as to what you plan.
I promise not to steal your idea and get rich on the royalties without sharing

Lara I will let you know what I find if you let me know. I plan to do the 57" spring thing front and rear.... that is if I can afford it and it won't be bouncing around like crazy trying to drive it... :D
