I have my basic design down and know pretty much how my cage will be going together.

What lengths of tubing do you guys like working with? DO you like getting longer stuff and cutting it? Or shorter stuff?

I can get lengths of 10' and 24', also a few others..

Just wondering what the general concensus is..??...

Thanks!

DOM comes in random lenght's (+/- 2' or so)...Usually between 21-24'...

Just buy the sticks...I usually have to pay more per LF plus a cut charge on specific lengths. Not to mention 100% of the steel yards around here only sell by the stick.

Well I was asked if I wanted the 10' or 24' lengths. No extra charge for a different length.

i'd get the longest you can fit in your truck/trailer.

that way when you need 8 feet, you dont have 2 feet of wasted drop off.

buy the long stuff. Usually 4 sticks at 20+ feet is sufficient for a good cage job. you don't want to be stuck butting them together when 10' sticks aren't enuf.

I'd figger one for the front hoop, one for the center hoop, one for the rear bars, one for the spreaders, and the balance for anything else.

I was theinking the 10 footers would be nice for the spreaders, connecting bars and misc. And some 24ft'rs would be nice for the main hoops. Maybe I will get a little of both...

This tubing will be for the cage and tubing for the front bars out to the grill and for a stinger. Plus I will mount the front shocks off of it.

Get the biggest pieces you can haul.

I feel sorry for you guys who have to pay for cuts. My steel guy will cut for free, I am sure I pay a little bit extra per foot, but he'll cut anything, to any length for me...with a chop saw, gas axe, or plazma. I can also buy any length.
