I agree...I am bored out of my mind....I guess I am going to have to work on this pile of paper since no one has anything to say....I am thinking about the winter projects.....

I finished moving to my house this past weekend...my house looks like the old apartment puked all in it...stuff is stacked everywhere...or at least it was....I get home from class in Nashville about 12 am last night and my finacee' had arranged and put everything up. Also noticed that she PUSH MOWED the + or - 3 acre yard yesterday too.....VERY NICE!!!

Only thing I have did with my Scout lately was drive it to the new house and park it. Oh yeah...I have also swapped it to the new wheels with the correct b.s. Looks a ton better!!!

Maybe I can get it out this weekend and enjoy it some.

Hey R.White....how about we start a "winter plans" thread??

I have a .030 over 345 short block that needs some heads bolted on along with my motors accessories and a local Scout guru has a IH727 converted to a J**P tailshaft with all the internal goodies (RV set, shift kit, etc...) for sale....I have a D300 from a jeep....thinking about doing a little R&R this winter....but with the marriage and new house with no shop its going to be tough to do...guess I need to start on that shop......that's what's dreams are for......I'll be so glad to get out of school....post graduate education - gotta love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :flipoff2:

And you were bagging on me for our "big" rocks.. and you didn't even go wheelin'!! :flipoff2:

RACING, of course. Probably break something, too, just for fun.

Got warmed up last night by firing up Little Devil and pulling it into the shop to look things over.. shame to have to shut it off.. neighbors probably love straight pipes with some compression in front of 'em, too... :D

I wore gloves when I did the POR-15 and when I did Herculiner.

BTW, try not to breathe the POR-15 fumes, either.. it contains iso-cyanates.. VERY nasty stuff... if you spray it, you have to use a fresh-air breathing system.

Last weekend was very productive for me.
After 3 years of messing up the garage to the point I could barely step in to it. My wife and I took all the shiat out and spread it all over the yard (in piles). To keep, garbage and yard sale stuff.

Made enough room I could put an (small) import in the garage. :D
Then we started to fill it up with yard sale stuff and plan to do that this weekend.

I know - I would rather be wheeling - but space will do my heart better. I will actually be able to work on stuff this winter in the garage - not out side under the tarp. :D :D :D

When I'm not wrenching on something (or doing homework) I've been building shelves and stashing stuff in my new garage, too.

The sooner I get the plastic bins of "stuff" up off the floor and put somewhere in a halfway organized fashion, the sooner I can use that floor space to actually walk around a rig without getting tripped.

I still need to mud the ceiling, blow insulation up in the attic, and install the hot water heater, multiple 100lbs propane cylinders, and the recirc pump to get the radiant heat going, too..

Just got two brand new MT's put on. Road hazard em. One melted on the freeway, the other developed a bubble.... they were muttering something about airing down to far as they warrantied them, but I could not make it out...

So, for $40 total, I have two brand new tires.

I keep saying when these wear out, I am going to bite the bullet and put 35's on, but I keep killing the tires long before they wear out, so I keep putting new ones on.

Besides, i don't have the $$ for the gears I need for the 35's I want...

I was looking at the new BFG MT's though. Nice looking tires. They have a *wheel protector*. A lip of rubber that hangs out just at the lip of the wheel. I kind of think it would be mangled first run out, but it is an interesting idea.

Sidewalls on the BFG's have some nice ribs and lugs. Tread pattern is deep with lots of voids. Center treads are more in line with the truck than the old style...

Rubber compound *feels* sticky...

Who is running these. What do you think? Bet they wear out fast, but I bet they really stick to slickrock well....

I blew my fawking back out again:mad: Not sure if I can wheel for the big weekend:( I got the Dr. to set me up with the required meds, so if I heal up in time I'll haul ass east friday night with my rig in tow, if not I'll leave the scout at home and bum a ride.

I'm runnin the BFG's. I got new ones last November, we ran the con last november and my bald tires wern't gonna cut it in November. Sears had a close out sale on the OLD style BFG, so I got them, and road hazard. Well I'v gone threw four tires so far, on 2 of them they were able to locate the old style tires. On the last 2 ( the last rubicon trip) the could'nt find any of the old style, so now I have 2 old ones and 2 new ones. I think they are a good tire, they seem to grip real well.

Hoop,

Know some folks down our way that run the BFG's, they all love them. Wear resistance seems good, and they all just got back from the con' without anyone losing a tire. The tires got some gouges, and some bruises, but nobody lost one.

That lip seems to do a good job, I haven't seen a rip yet in one.

I agree, the new KM's seem *stickier*. Almost like Geolanders in compound consistency.

I'll have some room for some axles one way or the other - either on the trailer deck under the Scout, or in the bed of the 4-door if it cooperates for the drive..

I'll bring some cash. :D

Hoping to head up and pitch camp Friday night..

Not at all.

My Scout has varied from stock, to 31s, to 33s, to 31s, to 33s, to 235/75s, to 33s, to 36s, back to 31s.. all the time.

depending on what I'm using it for.

Highway tires, wheelin' tires, better wheelin' tires, "tires to run b/c wheelin' tires are being siped".. then there's been the "borrowed the wheelin' tires to run on something else and just need to move the Scout around" tire swap...

Hooper,

I got them wide 33-10.50-15 tires on my rig, and you know how much i wheel it. When i use my RAD valves and deflate to 10 or less they go great with all that the NW has to offer, aired up, they still go great, and highway miles are still ass kicking.

Went to Deer Heart, trail outside of chester, Massive uphill climb all the way! ended up bustin the u joint in my front driveshaft. no biggie :D
once we got to the top, (had to hitch a ride the last 300 yds) went swimmin in the lake, when my buddies came back down, 1 in a 79 super clean f-250 jumped out of gear sending the truck down hill. He jumped in and went for a ride. 10 feet one crushed front end and the truck now sitting square on a 3 ton bolder it came to a stop. Truck must have gotton 10 ft of air:eek: limped the scout home in 2. Next day drove past sterling city to high lakes and went camping, got stuck once and kissed a few trees. passenger door looks like a warped tape you left sitting in the sun in your car.Lesson learned ( Killer 1/2 inch nerf bars put on the next day)

Like you got time to wheel. Come awn - when was the last time your climbed over a rock on a trail? This should rule out FS roads and mall parking lots. An no your back yard should not qualify as a trail.

:D I know I'm one to speak since mine has not seen dirt since it left the farm in Arlington. Unless you count the time we threw the frame outside on the dirt while another rig was being fixed....
