Just noticed that a Scout was on the front cover of Petersen's this month.
Short 2 page write up.

Front page and only two pages, sounds like they are searching to see if there is any interest

The side of the Scout says "Northwest 4x4" but it was photographed in Michigan. Not sure what thas all about but I'm guessing that it's not a "West Coast" rig.

Decent looking family cruiser, nice sunburst orange paint. Not Pirate material by any means. Clark Cole is the owner.

It is an 80 Traveller with Nissan 6-33 Diesel. OX lockers in front and rear D60's. Leaf spring suspension with airbags in the front with procomp shocks and gabriel shocks in the back(??)

What is that hose going into the front diff cover, cable locker? I would give that 10 minutes under my rig and it takes 5 to get off the trailer.

Yep, OX is a cable engagement system. the 10 minutes depends on the driver.......

Like I said not really a pirate worthy rig.

we'll i will start and say that i work for northwest 4x4 in michigan and we are pretty proud to have our little shop truck grace the cover of a magizine that i have read since i was a young boy, clark and i built the scout from a pile of rust to a nice looking rig ( trailer queen ) parts runner.......we never thought we would get to see the harvester in a mag but we both are grinning....

the truck is'nt hardcore, nore are we ever going to clam it is as you all can see it is too nice to beat up ... at least for right now. but he really wanted to stay true ti the international theme , no big ass sound system, no chrome and still all function of pto power winch, and farmer use quality parts.

not bad, surprising that that motor can pull that thing but I have never ridden in a rig with that motor.

yeh, the sd33t by no means is a high speed unit, but it does as it was intended to do .....and it's fun to drive, everyone thinks there is something wrong cause of the black smoke. then trying to explane that it is " oiler " you get the deer in the headlight look.

was a fun build, i had a 800a when i was in highschool,( norther michigan )
i was a rust bomb and very bad road maners... but i will never forget the good times i had wheeling with it. so being able to make a binder look all pretty for atleast a little while was a good time.

Congrats. Always good to see IH crap in the mags, regardless of the 'hardcoreness'.

And welcome to the IH forum :flipoff2::flipoff2:

Just got the issue today. And not that I'm ripping on the rig at all, cause its a pretty sweet ride, but how did the cover shot catch the front two tires digging like mad.... but the driver side U-joint completely still...... and perfectly in focus.

Maybe I'm just crazy but what an odd looking picture.

Anyways... congrats on the cover shot for a Midwestern rig. Looks like it kicks some @ss!!

My guess is angular verses linear velocity. That is, the tire and joint are turning at the same rpm, but but the edg of the tire must cover a much greater distance per revolution. Juno?

It's just the way the photo was taken. Lots of action shots end up like that, I *think* theres a setting on the camera for it...changes the shutter speed or something. On the wheel the bolts around it are visible and clear as well.

I own a 1980 td t19-wide w/ dana 300. It is a slow ass rig , but like bingejeepin said. It is fun as hell to drive. I think when the 266 tires out on the trail rig i am gonna drop the same setup into it. I know a couple of guys who wheel them and wouldn't have anything else. The NA's get like 27 miles to the gallon so they are pretty efficient. Injection so no stalling. Can be costly when they go down, but one that has been well mantained IE. ran with a pyro, I have been told can last to 500,000.

the spear looking "thingy" is for a flag......at twisted trails offroad park flags are a must to enter the park but during the shoot the flag was removed to be more " eye pleasing"..

thanks for all the pirate support.

we be travling around this summer taking it to the jamboree's and trade shows so if you see just ask for me and we'll take her out to smoke out the skeeter population.
