Well long story short I was doing a local hill climb and after making it the first time I did it again and couldn't make i tried to turn around and got really really stuck, shoveled till 6am tried gettin out and the shifter will go into R N D 1 2 put nothing happens, it won't go. Got winched out a few hours ago and almost ripped the winch off my buddies rubicon, yeah I was deep. :shaking:
After getting out of it the hole I was wigglin my shifter and got Drive to work temporarily, powered out the rest of it and got on the main trail no drive no nothing. What could it be? Torque converter? Just looking for clues on what to start with. Any help is much appreciated.

well post a little more info if you want some help.
its probably one of 3 things.
linkage, fluidlevel, or you fried it.

what tc do you have? if its the 208 the shift fork pads are probably shot and it has slipped the planetary into neutral like mine did . does the tranny click when u put it back to park ? :smokin:

sounds like a shifter/linkage issue...

You think of checking the fluid level in the trans?
I would start there.

linkage is good unless something broke inside the tranny but it clicks through fine but there is no change in idle or anything when i do it. and yes my fluid levels good and the filter is new. t case is a 203. I pulled the pan off to look for metal and there was none and i didn't see anything unusual. thanks.

do you have a body lift, and was it in low range?
did the fluid smell normal, no burnt smell to it or anything?

no body lift, and I tried it in high and low range, it was in low when it stopped working though. fluid looked decent when I pulled the pan no burnt smell.
truck is a 79 c20 long bed 350 400/203 4in springs and blocks 34in LTBs.

and i can shift the t case freely with the tranny in P R D 1 2 with no interference which is not right cause it should only be able to in neutral. here's a picture of the truck on quinalt river bed last fall the sunset was gorgeous wish I had more than a cell phone camera. and the biggest sitka spruce in the world just for fun, also in quinalt rainforest.

This happened to my th400 a couple years ago.
All that happened to mine was I ripped a vacuum line off.
