jeeper8650 03-05-2009, 09:06 PM I am in the process of setting up a set of used gears into my 14 bolt. I have the pinion depth right on and my drive side contact pattern is on the heel side so I should decrease the backlash. However not matter what I do with the backlash the pattern stays on the heel. I have varied backlash from .003 to .016 and I am not getting any change in the contact pattern. Any ideas on what I am doing wrong? wranglerkid 03-05-2009, 09:14 PM if it is on the top of the heel side then you need to change your pinion shim... if it is in the root heel side then you need to adjust backlash.... if your backlash isnt changing it then maybe you should double check your pinion shim jeeper8650 03-06-2009, 11:15 AM I orginally had top heel contact. so I removed shims all the way down to the thinnest shim and still got heel contact reguardless of where I set the backlash. | |
