I was searching and found that if you use a 95 cavalier rotor for a pinion brake

That is what I bought and it will not work because the hat is not big enough to drill the holes. Did I buy the right year rotor ?

What have you guys been buying and do you guys have any pics of a drilled rotor ?

Thanks

i don't remember seeing anyone used the high dollar stuff on a rockwell. but there was a set of mog axles all fitted up with wilwood rotors and calipers in the mog section. do a search in the mog section, i am sure you will brig it up. mike

Frankie Fountain (aka frankie finland) uses the wilwood calipers, and i believe that he uses a cadillac rotor. pm him and ask him. I do know that the extra hard brake pads are chewing his rotors to hell quick. you might try to pm Dan Dibble, I spoke to him today and he has all the high dollar stuff, wilwood rotors and calipers.

Here is my setup:

-1987 (IFS) 4wd Toyota truck 4 piston caliper (~$33 plus core)

-1987 Mazda B2000 rotor (~$18)

I used the Mazda because it is flat and the hole in the center fits over the yoke perfectly. Just drill 4 holes and bolt on.

I have a friend that uses a Wilwood caliper and it works just fine. The only complaint I have heard from him is that it doesn't stop that well at slow speeds and stops like hell at higher speeds, but I believe that is because of the pad compound.

Shit, for whatever reason I can't post a picture, but there is a pic on this post: http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=75999&highlight=b2000

Hey 350 Samurai, I am seriously interested in seeing your mounting bracket for the caliper. Any chance you could E-mail me a pic or two?

Thanks

All I used for my mounting bracket was a piece of 3/4" angle. It is welded on. It is not the best mounting system and I am in the process of changing it. I have been talking to Daniel about making a bolt on bracket.

As far as my bracket goes, I used 3/16" plate, and a couple of washers to mount the rotor, it bolts to the top 2 right bolts on the actual pinion flange, and then I tapped 2 holes in the caliper, so the bolt not only threads through the caliper, but also has a nut on the end... I guess maybe thats a little hard to describe, I'll get some pics when I get to the shop... that'll help!

I'm running Ford taurus rotors and GM 1/2 truck calipers. the combination sticks out away from the axle more than I like but I've been running this combo for a year and haven't had any problems, and the large caliper is way overkill but the stopping power is awesome. I also run a 3/4" bore sprint car master cylinder with no booster, it'll pull the rear tires off of the ground on pavement with the tires aired down!

JYS,
I am running the same set-up as 350 sami..My bracket welds on to ;but, it is made from 1/4 plate and will fit into your back pocket..smaller then a cell phone. You can still remove the collar that it welds to from the housing just a little bit of a pain..Kinda similiar to removing the collar on the back of the 205 were the nut butts up against the vent tube..Send me a pm and maybe I can send you a copy of it..and 350sami thanx for the info again..:D
