: warn M8000: 1/4" or 3/16" thick mounting plate?

i used 3/16ths and bent it at a 90 and cut my hole for a fair lead. but a also brace it to the front hoop at the top and bottom of the plate. mike

If braced properly 3/16 is enough. Some of warns stuff is made that thick. I prefer thicker myself.

3/16? hmmm.....a 6x14 or even 8x14 peice of 3/8 of half isn't going to wigh more than 10-20 pounds, and I'd trust it more than the 3/16 stamped crap that I see bent all the time, just my .02

I USE A PIECE OF 3/8 " PLATE ........8"X24" WITH 4X 1/2"BOLTS ON EACH SIDE

The stock plate is 1/4". I wouldn't trust a 3/16" mount for a winch, and there won't be that much weight difference with a thicker plate, as others have mentioned.
