: rod ends

Has anyone had trouble with this happening? The insert for this rod seemed to warp or something i cant get the rod end in any more than an inch n a half. what do i do now427107 any help is appreciated

Did you overheat it badly during welding?

On threaded stuff....inserts, bungs, etc. I like to take a scrap of threaded rod and put it in the threads during welding. That way you don't get spatter into the threads and I think it helps as a heatsink to keep from distorting the threads.

yeah it probably did overheat. that is two passes w/ a tig. I had no idea that it could compramise the integrity that of the bung that much. thats a big ass tap to buy.

If you have anything scrap that is the same thread you can make a semi tap which might work to clean the threads cut some flutes in it with a small cutoff tool, just make it look like a tap.
