: Tilt steering....???

Just added bucket seats from a late model to my '79 F-150.

I raised the seat height a couple of inches to give a better view over the hood. Now the steering wheel blocks the speedometer.

Kind of a problem for my teenage son. A tilt would solve that. In haunting the wrecking yards, I will be on the lookout for one. Did Ford offer a tilt from '73-'79?? Or does some other tilt easily adapt?

Thanks,

Mike

Ford did make a Tilt, mostly in the Auto tranny rigs. Very rare.

you can swap in truck or van column from about '76 to '80. The difficulty will be finding one. To find a manual tilt with the key in the dash is very difficult. You have a better chance of finding a tilt van auto column and remove the auto stuff. Otherwise expect to pay up to $250 $300 for a tilt manual column with kwy in dash.

Just did this swap in an EB. Let me know if you have any questions.

I have a C-6 in my truck. If I found one for a manual, not a big deal, I would go with an aftermarket floor shifter, which I expect to do in the future anyway.

Galen, any and all help appreciated. Only problem for me is recognizing the right van. I like Fords, but never paid much/any attention to the vans.
