While waiting at the parts store today, I thumbed through an issue of Mud Life Magazine. A picture caught my attention but I did not have time to read the article. It was a pic of a Cherokee, stuck, being pulled out with a strap. The weird part is that the strap was routed throug the two broken out rear side windows. I think it was some type of Truck Challenge in Ohio.

Anybody see this? Need more info.

Need more info.

Uhhh, no rear point to attach the strap do and they didn't want to hook it around the axle

Sounds weird to me, but I've seen dumber stuff. This is why anybody who wheels should incorporate an extraction point tied into their frame into at LEAST the rear, if not front and rear.

Not it. It was a cherokee. It looked like they busted out the windows to run the strap through. It was red. If I can, I'll buy the magazine tommorrow.

Years ago, when i had a bog at the track, a guy got stuck with his subaru. the techs let him in.... we warned him that it wouldnt be pretty.

he wanted to try the pit. he was gonna get stuck, he knew it.. but he wanted to put on a show for the crowd.

so, here goes this guy with a subaru on 31s, into a 32 inch black clay bog pit. he made it less than 10 feet.

he gets out the window, because the doors wouldnt open on this piece of shit.
I ask him "where do you wanna hook this chain?" he says... "to the bumper".

so, we pulled the bumper off with the cat.

I asked him where he wanted to hook it this time. he said... "lets get the lower control arm on the rear suspension" and I let him hook the chain.

so, we pulled the right rear suspension and axle off the car.

now... we are running out of items to remove here. I told him to get creative.
he did. he threw the chain through the rear passengers side window, then through the hatch glass, wrapped it around the pillar, and hooked it up.

we pulled the hatch and the pillar in two.

finally, i got tired of waiting, and I had him hook it to the tow mount under the car, where the factory tow hook is.

it pulled the car right out. we put all his broken shit into the trunk of his car *(or what was left of it) and called a towtruck to get his garbage off the premises.

what a tard he was... the crowd, however... they loved it.

That would infact be my Grand. I was driving the Blue Blazer with the white top that didn't make the full pull.....dammit.

Anyways, I had the the Grand because I needed the transmission from it. So the night before the comp my Uncle came down from Wyoming and we did a super quick prep to get it ready to compete. I was the one hooking up the weight sled and all we had was a chain bolted to the body. I decided we needed to hook higher on the body to load the rear wheels more, so I found an old pipe laying in the dirt and went to beating the windows out. The crowd loved it, and as you can see in the vids it actually loaded the rig down nicely!!

It was a fun event for sure. This years will be on the 26th of September. Check out Planet4x4.net for more pics, vids, and event info.
