IronBenderII 08-29-2002, 11:05 AM I'd like to see some pics as well. If his old lady is in them.... :flipoff2:
what...you guys' search button quit working??:flipoff2:
These pics are the most recent (narrowed 4 inches). The pic of Marilyn is before the narrowing (I think Mar is narrow enough).:D
http://home.earthlink.net/~enghorn/
IronBenderII 08-29-2002, 12:13 PM How about some naked shots? (of the Bronco). How was it to narrow with all that tube?

The frame stayed the same. I just brought the sheet metal in closer to it. Also lowered the front clip down a bit.
RKCRAWLER 08-29-2002, 12:36 PM Very nice shots!! Of the bronco of coarse:D
morpheus 08-29-2002, 12:41 PM man, that's a nice rig JR !
that's actually sheet metal ? i had always assumed it was fiberglass ...
when you were designing it did you consider putting some tubes across the roof portion ? it looks like in a rollover a big pointed rock could do the drive or pass some hurt ...
- jack
bluesman2a 08-29-2002, 01:38 PM But which came first: the paint job or the bikini that goes so well with it??? :flipoff2:
The more I look at that rig, the more I like it... If that's not art, I don't know what IS.
offroadr35 08-29-2002, 01:45 PM  that's what the Hummer H2 shoulda been. That rig is so pretty it really does look like it came from a factory. i need to stop seeing pics of that rig cuz it always makes me jealous.
-Steve
P.S. Just out of curiousity, JR how old are you and what do you do for a living?
that's what the Hummer H2 shoulda been
No way. Hummer needs to keep producing ugly pieces of junk. Personally I like all of the trash cars on the road. It makes the vehicles on POR look that much better.
Way
Sweet bronco!
frankie fountain 08-29-2002, 03:11 PM man i love that bronco wish it where mine :D do you have any detaild pics of you front and rear links?

Don't you mean the skin flute?:rainbow:
pmurf1 08-29-2002, 09:02 PM I got to see it in person at the Hammers a month ago. It is a badass rig all around. Not cobbled together like most, including mine. Ground clearance and 4 wheel steering is amazing. The axles are killer, but an IFS buggy would probably outwheel it. At least that's what the mags say.

LOL..I saw that in the mag..have to admit it got a "WTF??" reaction from me :D Not what I expected
Beautifull rig btw
Just got back from rehearsal. You guys are a bunch of nosey SOBs. :flipoff2:
I am the principal French horn of the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, Pacific Symphony and Opera Pacific orchestras. I also am a studio musician and have played on more than 500 motion picture films here in Hollywood ( can you say residual?) and this is what feeds my bronco. Just like you guys, work is stressful and the bronco build up and wheeling take me out of it. Here is a publicity pic from last year just in case you don't believe me.
elf_cruiser 08-29-2002, 11:30 PM hey JR, i play the drums and wheel too. So don't let em give you any shi#t about being a musician. I wish i could make money with music, but I am into more commercial music, not the classics. It's pretty hard to break into that scene...
Check out some of my tunes here: http://members.cox.net/weshanson/band/band.htm
BTW, I was in marching/concert band all 4 years in high school, so i do have experience with that kind of music. It's just not my cup of tea.
Good to hear that you are making some $$$ with your talents, though.
WOLF359 08-30-2002, 12:10 AM Well drums are cool, but the french horn? :flipoff2: ;)
Nice car. :p
JR,
Do you blow in the big end or small end of the tubafluba thing?
Chicks dig the horn!

We get the idea man...you don't have to go tootin' your own horn..... ;)
elf_cruiser,
Your drums rock, man!
Did you know Ryeguy is is a two-time state champion fiddler? My bro Jefe plays bass trombone with the LA Philharmonic, and my wife Marilyn plays oboe/English horn with the Tucson Symphony. Who else on this board plays instruments? LETS FORM A BAND!!
THE PIRATES BAND
No. wait. This shit belongs in chit-chat.
And C104 plays the tubaflooba...I mean, French horn, too.
rad, grouse and all the other cool words from the 80's
i like the way it looks somewhat stock yet is tubed under that body shell.
NICK
Joe_W 08-30-2002, 07:21 AM I'm with Daniel...I think it's cool that a guy playing classical musiv can be so successfull...whoda thunk it?
Aside from some good-natured ribbing I don't think anyone was giving him shit. Hell if nothing else he brings some class to the table :flipoff2:

Guitar, Drums, Alto/Tenor/Baritone Sax, Tuba, Trumpet, and Harmonica.
I have a little trouble reading music at times, but the majority of my time was spent in Jazz or Improv work, so I made up for it :D Play mostly by ear. I can tell if it sounds right, or needs a little tweaking.
nobody20 08-30-2002, 10:17 AM JR, I think it is wonderful that people like you, your brother, Dave Hickman, etc. with diverse careers are involved in rock crawling. I like a diverse group of people myself - it makes discussions over a few beers at the end of the day very interesting.
By the way I assume that is your daughter, she is very beautiful. You appear to be a fortunate man with a great rig which you worked hard to get.
IronBenderII 08-30-2002, 10:21 AM By the way I assume that is your daughter
Ouch! That leaves a mark!
Hey Mr. Reynolds I'd like permission to date your daughter! Ha ha! :flipoff2:

You blow in the small end and the noise comes out the big end.
Then you take a solo bow, and collect the check :flipoff2:
Yes chicks dig the French horn, heck even my *daughter* does.:flipoff2:
mudtruck44 08-30-2002, 05:21 PM JR your "car" looks even better now. That thing was amazing. I seriously think you were in a league of your own at Top Truck. Not just because of the way the vehicle was constructed, but because of the way you were prepared for everything out there. You guys were there ready to win, but you didn't act like it. You're a great guy. At least 9 out of the 10 there were cool guys.
ItsaCJ6 08-30-2002, 05:38 PM As long as it puts food on the table and 9"/mog axels in the custom ride. Is plays as sweet as any tune.
Jeepinguy 11-30-2002, 01:10 PM SWEET BRONC !!!!!! WHAT AXEL's are you running ???
FourPlay420 11-30-2002, 02:55 PM yeh give us some more fatcs on the bronc....
Sorry guys never got into blowing horns or in the band in high school, i was in the get laid, drink beer, ride dirtbikes, normal white american guyy thing:flipoff2: :flipoff2: :flipoff2:
Brawler 11-30-2002, 03:17 PM I can tell you JR is a stand-up guy and can play the shite out of the horn. Pulls up behind the shop and starts blowing on that thing. We walk out and see this little guy blowing this horn. Funny if you can picture the alley in which he did it. I probably have more pics of the buildup then JR does. I even have a few of the original chalk lines on the concrete. Eric is a GOD with design.
I think the best thing is that JR isn't a big sissy when it comes to wheeling the bronco.

JR was this years winner of Four Wheeler's Top Truck Challenge. Search around, there are quite a few posts regarding that beautiful machine.
FourPlay420 11-30-2002, 04:13 PM alright will do, must say nice bronco

A THOUSAND JRs would never bring enough class to this board!!:p
BTW, JR, you should get together with some of the video guys here and cut some tracks for wheeling videos. The hardcore music on them is OK, but I think a little jazz/classical music would be neat.
WideJ 11-30-2002, 05:32 PM I play the baritone sax.
Been doin it for 12 years, it has fueled my buildup as well...
I played jazz at the Four Seasons (Las Vegas) two summers ago in the Walt B. Big Band. That was one hell of an experience!
Well, back to trying to become an engineer...
BillaVista 11-30-2002, 07:01 PM I am the principal French horn of .......
Hey - does that mean you get to boss the other French Horns around ;) :flipoff2:
Sweet pics ....can't ever get enough. Still nothing else comes close in my book.
I can't play a note - but I can turn jet fuel into noise!
Well... here this thread is again. Thanks for the thumbs-up guys! :D
It's funny, I go to work and they think I'm " that redneck who drives a monster truck"
Jeepinguy, the axles are 9"/unimog hybrids. That means they are Ford 9" center sections turned upside down and joined to Unimog outer gear boxes. It gives about 5" more clearance uder the diff.
FourPlay420, it's a tube frame buggy made to look like a bronco. the bronco "skins" are removable. All the running gear is Ford where applicable. It uses a 351w stroked to 426, a C6 and an Atlas 3.0 T case. The 42" tires on hummer beadlocks are 108" a part.
It's 80" wide and wieghs just over 4k. It has drive line mounted disk brakes and quad steer.
BillaVista, yep, I keep the other horn guys in line.:trooper:
jeeper111 11-30-2002, 11:26 PM The more I look at that rig, the more I like it... If that's not art, I don't know what IS.
I am an art major and I certify that it is definitely a work of art!!!!
:D

You make it sound like what JR does is easy. Have you ever tried to get a sound out of a french horn, much less make it sound good? That is a very difficult instrument to master.
JerryRigs 12-24-2002, 08:59 PM I know this is an old post to refresh, but JR all I can say is WOW you got any more pics???? :D Nice ride, the bronco i mean. got pics of her mother??? the broncos of course. And by the way buy a star, support the BB. I could never afford a ride like that and notice the star;) im the word of the all might webdaddy "Come Awn"
pavelow 12-24-2002, 10:14 PM I suddenly find myself wanting to learn how to play a french horn......:D
