I just installed a TF-727 in my Scrambler and used a brand new Daystar tranny mount. By the end of the day it had
shredded the polyurethane. The idler arm mount is not long enough to reach the skid plate. Need ideas on how to
prevent the new one from getting hammered in no time.

Do you have the stabilizer stud? It connects between the skid plate and "idler arm" mount.

This work? Not my picture - but one that a member on JF sent me - it helped me out when I needed it.

Skip the stock junk. Mount solid to the tranny with a tube and spring bushings at the frame.

what are spring bushings? I was thinking of using the stock type middle mount and use a solid stabalizer rod.

The type of bushings used in the end of leaf springs. SOmething like this (although you can't actually see the bushings that are in the tues at each end of the crossmember)

Instead of using the stabilizer rod, I used another trans mount in it's place.

I think I know how it works now. The torque stud does not go through the skid plate. It is made to have some play and once the trans torques the stud will hit the skid and stop anymore movement. Please correct me if I am wrong.

The torque stud goes through the skid plate. It fastens to the skid plate and to the stabilizer bar. It prevents the transmission from rocking.
In the picture above, the threaded portion on the bottom would go through the skid plate and have a nut on the underside of the skid plate.

I was under the impression that the stud did not go through the skid plate. I thought it rests a 1/4" or so above it and when the trans torques it hits the skid and stops it. If it is meant to go through the skid the stud is not long enough.
