: RCAA "rep" for IN - who?
I understand that RCAA appointed 6 different "reps" to organize RCAA based events across the nation.
Who is RCAA's rep for the state of Indiana?
I'm asking because I would like to petition them to bring an RCAA event and the accompanying competitors to IN, if they aren't already planning on doing so.
With all the work Troy has done at the Badlands, I think he has a venue more than worthy of the caliber of competitors that RCAA hosts and I would love to see these guys in action.
Judging by this weekend's fiasco, we won't be seeing those guys again if all we can get in IN is SITR events.

Doc Savage 08-28-2002, 11:48 AM At present only 2 of the 6 positions are filled. CalRocks has the SouthWest and the Rocket City Rock Crawlers have the SouthEast. Folks up there might be interested in talking to RCAA and become the district "rep".

RKCRAWLER 08-28-2002, 12:40 PM Hey DOC.....speaking of competition, when is the next one scheduled for the southeast region?? I am looking forward to competeing again.
I just got off the phone with Beau at RCAA. Beau confirmed that RCAA does not have anyone lined up for the IN area as of yet. I put him in touch with a good friend of mine that has been organizing small to medium sized trail ride events in the IN and MO areas with excellent results.
In case you're wondering why I'm throwing this info out to the public, it's because having an area rep is the fist step in getting RCAA to come to a new area.
I don't know about you guys, but *I* would sure as heck like to see RCAA come to my backyard. A 4 hour drive sure beats a 30 hour drive.

Lance 08-29-2002, 09:41 AM now don't quote me on this, but I *believe* the area reps are going to be for hosting events that qualify people to run in the main RCAA event(s). I *think* RCAA is going to be sort of like a Supercrawl event now, where you have to qualify on a regional level in order to compete. At least that's my understading of it....
Confirmed or not, that does make sense judging by what RCAA is doing with CalRocs and RCRC.
I would also imagine that RCAA is "testing the waters" for future venues. It's kind of hard to advertise yourself as a "national series" when you only have events on the west coast.
I think RCAA would be hard pressed to not bring a well organized event to the Badlands in IN after seeing all that it has to offer ... plus the attraction of not having the politics of putting on an event on public land.
Of course I could be putting the wagon before the horse here. Maybe Troy Meyers has no desire to bring something that big to his property. But you'll never know until people start asking questions.

Do you mean like a supercrawl series? I'm not up on NASCAR or anything but would I be right in saying RCAA would be the Winston Cup and the regional stuff would be like the Busch Series?? Kick ass in the regional stuff and you get an invitation the "the show"? Sounds more and more like it's getting big time :D

Re; Nascar analogy No. Winston cup and Busch are both national touring divisions. Think: unlimited and legneds.. There are other Nascar divisions that are regional..

That's how Bob Pratt explained it to me at the recent RRCA/Sommerville, AL event, Regional success will get you to the big series.
One tough thing is they've got a lot of people that are "In" RRCA now- making it full. you can't exactly make all the guys that've been there unwelcome but at the same time how do you get new blood in if you're full or there's a waiting list (Beau told me about the waiting list early in 02)
Kind of at a crossroads for next yr.

Some time next year. Would like to do another this year, but we need a little breather. We are also looking into expanding the course and it will take some work to have that ready. We enjoyed it, but it was alot of work. We'd like to work with other clubs in the SE to help them put on events and have them sanctioned.
As far as the way the regional stuff will work out, I'm not completely sure. I'm just the President, I delegated that off to someone else. :) I think RCAA has an idea in mind, but is still working out some of the details.

Who knows, someday we might see a large field of competitors show up for an event with a smaller field "qualifying" for the big show.
After all, would following in the footsteps of something as big as say ... NASCAR ... be that bad of an idea? mmm, nascar babes :D

Indeed. Except for me it would only be an hour and a half drive:flipoff2:

Interesting idea, but I don't know how it would be effectively applied. Though, to some extent, haven't some of the western events essentially implemented this already:
Everyone competes Saturday and then the Finals on Sunday are less

Oh, I wasn't aware that that's how RCAA was already handling their events. If that is true, then, yet again, I have come up with a non-original idea. :)

RKCRAWLER 08-29-2002, 11:09 AM So what yall are saying is I placed fourth in the summer rock challenge in Alabama(rcaa sanctified) but I cannot compete in the super crawl?? I am confused. I don't think that was said anywhere.
As *I* undestand the Supercrawl entrance qualifications, you do qualify since the Summer Rock Crawl Challenge was a RCAA sanctioned event and you placed within the top 10.

RKCRAWLER 08-29-2002, 11:21 AM Thanks - I got caught up in the thread and got confused. trying to do 8 things with 2 hands and 1 brain(half fried).
Go2Guy 08-29-2002, 11:23 AM Rkcrawler- Sorry for the confusion-
The supercrawl is not an RRCA event and you are qualified. Because you finished in the top 10 of a sactioned event the UROC guys who are putting on the supercrawl will gladly accept your application.
The supercrawl is open to all people who did well in (top 10) in any sanctioned event (Exluding bubba's buddies beer bash barbecue and rock climbing type events)
Craig Stump is the man- UROC is the web site, easily pulled up in a search engine.
RKCRAWLER 08-29-2002, 11:31 AM Thanks Go-2-Guy. Plain and simple , just the way I like it.
