had a melt down in my electrical system yesterday so i've got all my wires strung out in the engine bay for repair and clean up. i've got a 90 yj with a carbed chebby 350. how much of this wiring crap can i eliminate? can i get rid of all the wires going to the (what look like) relays and computer hook-ups that are attached ot the battery tray? thanks.

When I wired the 350 in my '87 YJ (originally had a 258), I cut out 90% of the stock wiring harness and pretty much started over.
Leave all the stuff on the driver's side alone, and unwrap and separate all the wires from any loom and/or tape from the harness that runs along the firewall. You'll need to save wires for sensors, alternator, starter & solenoid, back-up light, stuff like that, but, like I said most of that computer-related garbage can just be chopped outta there.
Just make sure you know EXACTLY what you're cutting BEFORE you cut it.
Good luck,

That is about what I did, all mine is ran to a switch pannel. I just left the main wire loom that run along the top of the fire wall there. I didnt mess with it like jakester said because I think it also contains dash lights and so on.

Nope, those are on the other side of the firewall. I did lose my heater fan connection somewhere in there though... ;)
Not bad considering all the wanton wire-chopping I was doing.
Just be careful.
