i have an older 1300 psi electric sears craftsman pressure washer

i am rebuilding an engine for my first time ever and want to clean the dirty parts from my old engine

for electrical stuff: alternator, starter, distributor case, can i just blast the hell out of them with the pressure washer? i will not be putting them back into service for quite awhile and they will be given ample time to dry out, i will also hit them with compressed air as well

can i use the discharge of our hot water heater to run it through the pressure washer, essentially a steam pressure washer

Should be fine. I have never had issues pressure washing stuff anyhow. No fun to work on an engine that has 3/4" of grease/oil/dirt all over it.

Would you put your toaster in the toliet, then expect it to work?
Take the stuff off and buy some go jo to clean your hands.

X2, you can force grease & dirt inside, and that's kaa-kaa.
( sorry, industry term for "it's a bad thing" ):laughing:

Your pressure has a max inlet water temp rating, I wouldn't run too hot of tap water through it. If you use common sense you won't be blasting things like wires, alternators, etc. It will help a great deal if you soak it with some kind of degreaser for a day or 2. I favor Zep Purple, avaliable at home depot, but read the precautions.
