i know i've seen people run eitehr a centered tcase w/ a offset diff or a offset tcase w/ a centered diff so i know it has/is being done...this weekend i'll hopefully be swapping in a dana 44 front/rear 12 bolt in my '65 fj45 w/ an offset tcase.. the wheelbase is long enough i dont think i will wory about driveline angles being too severe,,but i wnat to know how bad is it to drive w/ a driveline going like / or \ insted of l? i'll be driving on the freeway w/ it..would i be better off to wait on the rear axle until i get a tcase w/ a centered output? thanks

here's what you do. Measure the length of the driveline from tcase flange to pinion yoke. Then measure the distance that they are offset, laterally. Then call Jesse at High Angle Driveline, and ask him to check those measurements for acceptable joint angle. He can tell you if you might have problems, and he can fix youup with whatever you need to fix it.

Are you gonna be swapping the case soon?

Lots of people do this on Sammi's. Results have been mixed. Probably because there are so many other variables. Many have found it liveable with a CV shaft though.

a guy at work runs a dana 300 with a LC rear axle. he just runs a CV shaft and so far he hasnt broken it.

why not ditch the 12 bolt and track down an eaton rear axle from a early 70's chev 3/4 ton?
this is the precursor to the 14 bolt and looks like a big ford 9 inch
if you pull the dif and spin the housing around slapit all back together and you have a passenger offset fulfloater
viola!

thanks guys,,i might just hold off on the centered rear diff until i get a centered output on the tcase...

fcfred-i'd go that route but i want to stay w/ the 6 on 5.5 bolt pattern and get this done asap...i dont need the rear axle in tehre yet i was just playing w/ the idea

M715's came stock with the Tcase offset to a centered rear diff. As far a "streetable", thats an other story. But with stock 35" tires and 5:86's that rear shaft (non CV) is turning pretty fast!:D

Come on 'onetoncv', we are waiting for you to set this topic to rest. We go thru this once a week on the Sami board, and there are tons of bad advice given!

Tell them how it is.... please... They might believe you.... :)
