: Pro/Cons of Radial SSR's

I can get a pretty good deal on a set of 37/12.50X17 Radial SSR's there 6 ply load rating E, what’s the reputation of this Swamper on the trail and in the rocks?
I've never run Swampers before, I've been running Goodyear MT's for a long time and have had pretty good luck with em cruising the mall parking lot, but now I want to do some real wheeling.
Basically how will these hold up and how do they compare to a TSL?
Oh yeah I'll do a search also:flipoff2:

now back to some tech..... I've got the 37's on 16's. Everyone says they cut and shit but I haven't been able to yet. I have seen pics of the sidewalls ripped to shit though, but that'll happen with any radial tire. If you're comparing strength, there is no comparison. If you're comparing traction, I might have to go with the ssr's on rock, I'd say they're pretty equal in mud. If you have to drive the thing on the road at all go ssr's, if not go tsl.

Just trying to help a newbie out, we were all there one time, hell I'm still a newbie.

I run 35x12.50r15 on my 97 Ram. I am on my second set. the first set got about 20k on them before I shreaded them in some decomposing granite trying to pull a stuck/stalled Heep up the hill. I lost several full lugs, and chunked the crap out of the rest of them so bad that I had to replace them cause they'd never rebalance. Of course I kept spinning the tires and burying them to the hubs before I realized I was tearing them up. The same thing would have happened with any other tire too.

I did buy another set though. They are fine in the rain and great in the mud that I see.

They are fairly quiet for a Swamper, ride nice, balance with little weight and I would buy them again unless I start driving more on the road (work from home most of the time). Then I'd go with some A/Ts for daily use and a second set of Boggers or SXs for wheelin'

OK, and DO the fawkin search you talked about, and show me more than 2 constructive posts about them... :flipoff2: I'll be waiting...

Just because that's a favorite answer for SOME topics, doesn't make them the reply for all questions...

Are you sure you have SSRs? Mine are loud as hell & took about 20oz per tire to balance & I wouldn't have it any other way.:flipoff2: And they only have 1k miles on them, they do ride good though.

1st ignore the jackass's, and do a lil search anyway, they are mostly junk, sillyneck bought 4 and 3 of them lost tread on the street in under 100 miles. and they seem to have the plies seperating after repated airdowns, and have blowouts on the hwy. no dought they are sticky on the rocks though:flipoff2: they also have way weak sidewalls, most anyone I know that has had them say this.......take my info for what it's worth:)

buddy of mine had a 35" ssr blow out ,like the side wall had a huge hole in it, on him on the freeway. but it was a hot summer day on the way home from work in traffic. he doesnt off road so it wasnt a wound from a sharp rock. they eventually settled after 5 weeks and refunded him for the damage. this is the only info i have on ssrs.

Mine were quiet too, way more quiet than my MTR's. I have no complaints about the SSR's, there is a 10 ply version now, I think as a result of punctures and ruptures. They were great in the snow and on rocks and drove very nicely down the road. If MTR's weren't cheaper I'd get them again.
