In need of new shocks since two of my Doetsch Techs 3k's are blown, and a third is FUBARed after I nailed it on Soup Can.

It's between the RS9000x (new nine position shock) and the Pro-Comp MX6's.

The thought of a single tube is kinda scary considering the kind of terrain I traverse, one big dent = big problems. Are the tubes thicker on the mono-tube shocks to resist the dent factor?

On the other hand, gas charging is appealing sine I run in the Nevada desert during the winter, where shock fade is not cool.

Thoughts, opinions? I did a search (of course) but no actual testimonials showed up.

After running RS9000's for years and being only semi happy with their perfomance I stepped up and bought the Bilstein 5100's. They are far the best shock I have ever ran and they really seem to help with the body roll factor while on the trail.
Roggy Enterprises is having a sale right now on the shocks, all the way up to the 14" travel version and they are Nickle Plated. I think they are $62 bucks a peice??

Nickel plated even!

Can you say high Bling-Bling factor? I had heard that the 5100 series Bilsteins had some issues with their valving for rock crawling purposes. Are different shocks in their line valved for specific applications?

Still the mono-tube, maybe I can live with it. Replacing shocks due to trail damage is sure getting old.

What ifyou got the shocks and sleeved the sucker with some thinwall tube?

Hmmmmm......interesting......though in my case, I should probably use HEAVY wall tubing!

I had thought about this as well, it would be a slight PITA, but I think I could get away with just doing the rears.

One nice thing about the Bilsteins is that the "can" is mounted up top, so its up outta the way of rocks, etc. for the most part. :)
