I search on this, surprised that it's not been done more...
Not mine, but a friends.
Typical 5 on 5.5" aftermarket rim fits just fine.

seems like a waste of time and effort to me
is there a magic rim that only comes in 5x5.5 that is a huge benefit?
ugly where the one stud is into the existing 8 lug location

More people just weld 9 inch ends on :)
How bad was turning the hub down?
:shaking:
so that looks like a "no, there is no good reason to do this I just think it is too easy to buy rims and save myself a bunch of wasted time and effort"
is that what you meant to say?
you need a lathe to modify those hubs, why not just make a new hub that fits properly like Gradys did?

For my Friend... it was very easy.
The harder part was the studs.

Already had the 14B hubs... After that is was time and a few studs.
Yes it's not for everyone, but when you've the HP to exploded a 9", this is a nice step up.

I did this same thing a few years back. Just a bit of advice, make sure those "bolt/studs" are 9/16. I did the 1/2 thing and ended up bending them. I went back and re did them to the 9/16 and feel better.
Now, with that said, I wish I would have just bought 8-lug wheels and been done with it. I didn't planned on 46" tires and 450 HP when I did this.

Great to know! I'll pass along the info.
Most people in our club run the 5 on 5.5" pattern, so it's nice to know a spare from someone else vehicle would work. Never know when you might loss two tires at the same time...
