i have a 73 f250 with a 360 and a c6 transmission, plus it is 4x4. and i have a 460 with a c6 transmission out of a 78ford f250 2 wheel drive. iwould like to swap motors by puting the 460 in the 73. does the 360 have the same same transmission bolt patern as the 460 or do i need to use the c6 behind the 460 to complet this transfer

460 and 360 have different bellhousing bolt patterns. However you should be able to use parts from your 360 C6 to convert your 460 C6 to 4x4. You will have to take both apart to change the output shaft and then use the 360 C6 tail housing to mount the tcase. I did this on a 6.9 diesel trans with a salvage yard output shaft and tail housing.

His 73 should be divorced transfer case no? Shouldn't be any big deal to use the 460 C6 with no mods to it. May need to build a new intermediate shaft, but that's about it.
