Well the T-15 took a dump. I need a replacement tranny to put in fairly easy. This my friends occasional offroad vehicle but mostly sunny day driver. Would a T-150 work O.K. I just need the bellhousing to go with it right? Oh yeah, it's a 74 CJ5 with a 304.

Thanks.

If he's going to spend money on a trany, get a good one. T-18 all the way. Cheapest way to do this is to find one out of a FSJ and replace the input shaft with a Ford input.

A Ford NP435 is a good choice and easy to find. AA's site will give you a little info on adaptors and soe does Novaks site.

I replaced mine with an NP 435. wasn't too hard to put in. Used the Novak adapter and it was relatively short. Only had to shorten the rear driveline a little to make it fit. Needed a different bellhousing for mine also.

All the good ones cost about the same to bolt up unless you find a Jeep t18

if it truly is just a sunny day driver a t150 will be fine. i didnt have any issues with mine behind a 360, other than the gearing sucks a fat one when its off road.

T-150 was fine in my CJ-7 with its current gearing + 4.10 diffs for street only. I have 360 and tore up 2nd and 3rd after about a year. The 360 wasn't modified (more or less) so for larger than a 304, I'd personally go with a T-18, but someone might be willing to almost give a T-150 away because they are the least desireable off-road.
