: What size injectors for SEFI 351W
wheelin66bronco 03-23-2009, 01:22 PM I'm trying to get as much juice out of my roller 351W as possible without going stroker. I now have 24lb injectors, 75mm throttle body, T-bird mass air meter(I have a 70mm one on the shelf), and the cobra X3Z computer. I'm going to have a chip burned for it so I might as well get bigger injectors first if it's worth it.
How big can I go on injectors and will it really help much? 32lb'rs?
desteurm 03-23-2009, 02:08 PM You should be able to get 325 hp out of the injectors you have now.
you might want to read this...has some calculators and such

welndmn 03-23-2009, 02:14 PM I think mine are about 3 inches long :flipoff2:
I would slap some 32's and put an adjustable reg on it.
svt150j49 03-23-2009, 07:33 PM your 24s should be plenty big for factory heads without a blower. Factory injectors are rated to around 300, 24s are around 325-330. What else is done to the motor?

Actually I heard your are only 2.5" :D
I have an adjustable reg on it too, I forgot to mention it in my post.

Engine is .040 over, Motorsports Z303 cam, World Windsor Jr heads, MSD Dist, Adjustable fuel regulator.
66Halfcab 03-23-2009, 09:01 PM Throw the cobra computer in the trash and get a A9l There is alot more programming available. 24lb injectors are plenty for what you have.

agreed. ive heard the same about the computers.
ken75ranger 03-24-2009, 04:09 AM That z cam has quite a bit of duration for use in an automatic tranny. When it's idling in gear is isn't going to be very smooth.
It should take off like a raped ape when you hit around 3200 rpms though.

It's really not all that bad, I've had the C-6 for a few years now and at first it seemed to lope a lot idling in gear but now it doesn't seem too as much. And yes, it does pull very well in the upper RPM range.
rock-rod 03-24-2009, 09:21 AM another vote to throw that cobra computer in the trash. get an A9P or C3W and then chip it. I wouldn't go bigger than 24s unless you plan on doing a lot of WOT driving. The 24s have plenty of duty cycle for wheelin. As you go bigger, it gets more and more difficult to control idle and low speed A/F ratios and driveability will suffer.
**hijack**
btw, I just swapped a 351w roller into my jeep. If you remember I was selling a junk yard 351w roller a while ago. Well, it was sold to someone local, and then my 5.0l promptly blew it's guts out about a month later. So..... I found a ford crate 351w roller (stock replacement for a '96 truck) and swapped that in. silly, huh?
runs pretty darn good now. It's stone stock with an explorer roller cam and stock iron heads. the only mod is the lightning lower to match the explorer upper I had on the 5.0l motor. I am running 19lb injectors and a C3W ecu with an adj regulator and stock MAF meter. I plan on swapping to gt40p heads in the near future and leaving the rest of it alone.
**end hijack**
FordFascist 03-24-2009, 10:59 AM Another vote for the A9L and 24lb injectors.
Unless you're going to run this bitch on the floor a majority of its life, anything larger will cause the thing to load up at low to midrange.
I'm running a stock A9L with 19 lb injectors on my 351W by the way.
svt150j49 03-24-2009, 08:12 PM im going to run the 19s with my Vortech and factory heads. They will put out enough with a FMU for 300-325 horses. Im sure the 24s are plenty with an adjustable pressure reg. If i ever do heads ill swap in a set of 24s.
broncman 03-26-2009, 04:34 PM I run 24's, A9L, Worked over GT40 heads, Explorer upper and lower, 65 mm TB, and 75 mass air, Comp Cam, roller rockers, headers etc.
WOW! I LOVE the power of this new motor.
The BEST fuel injection advice for injector sizing and fuel pump sizing can be found in the new Ford Racing Motorsports catalog this year!
Go online, down load their new catalog. A WHOLE section on sizing injectors, pumps, throttle bodies etc. Best tech in one place I have found!
wheelin66bronco 03-27-2009, 08:58 AM Broncman, Thanks. Good info.
I have talked to motorsports directly in the past with great success, my Z303 cam is a custom cut suggested by them that works great.
I used info from the Megamanual (link above) when I built my MegaSquirt. Stock 460 24lbers on my 393 seem to be working well.
