: New Zuk owner
2002 FX4 Ranger 08-29-2002, 02:43 PM Hey guys, I have a few questions for ya. I am in the process of buying a Zuk and wanted to know what to look for in advance.
I am going to leave the 4cyl in it for the time being. Will goto a small block or V6 later on down the line. I am going to run 31x13.50 TSL's on it. Should the stock axles be OK??? I was thinking about maybe Toy axles if they are not good. Also, what is a good gear for the 31's??? 4.10 or 4.56???
Last but not least. Where is a good place to buy parts for one online or in FL???
Thanks for all the help.
DemoMike 08-29-2002, 02:50 PM I'll say this in the nicest possible way.
A searchin' you will go, a searchin' you will go, high ho the merry oh a searchin' you will...
(Can you tell I have young kids?)
2002 FX4 Ranger 08-29-2002, 03:07 PM A searching I went. Got some info but I still need more.
How strong are the stock axles??? What size are they?
Which gears to run, and where is a good place to buy stuff.
What should I look out for and rebuild/replace first???

Brent @ Trail Tough is getting good marks today.

Look into t-case gears before regearing the axles, (its a Zuk' thing).
And....
:flipoff2: Welcome newbie!
2002 FX4 Ranger 08-29-2002, 03:49 PM Thanks man. I have never heard of anyone changing T-case gears. OH WELL! This is my 2nd Zuk. I bought one already built last summer and sold it a few weeks later b/c I didnt like it. Hopefully, this one will be much better.
Rerard 08-29-2002, 04:27 PM Look into the 6:1 kits...
MuddMachine 08-29-2002, 05:29 PM What kinda wheelin you plan on doin, you mentioned small block , plannin on alot of rock ? Sounds more like a mud recipe.
Welcome Newbie :flipoff2:

SouthernZuk 08-29-2002, 07:25 PM Hey, you said you were looking for a good place to buy parts. Im trying to get my shop and web site off the ground so if you would give me a chance I'd appreciate it. I can get just about everything other places can and I'm not tryin to get rich. My site doesnt show everything cause its new so call for things you dont see and prices please.
Thanks, Bruce

twisted one 08-29-2002, 07:57 PM i run the grs2 t-case with 32's and the stock gears and it does great in the mud tho 90%of my wheeling is on trails
Shrock 08-29-2002, 08:16 PM Stock axles should be fine for 31's. Look into the 1.6 16V swap b4 you settle on a V6.
A 4:1 or 6:1 tcase and do the diffs after if you want to go lower. The 4:1's are pretty cheap ~$400. If you do go V6, you will probably want new axles, and you wont loose your investment if you stick with the tcase.
If you told us more about the kind of whheling you want to do and where you want to go long term, we could give some better advise.
2002 FX4 Ranger 08-29-2002, 08:45 PM 90% of the offroad use it sees will be mud. ITs a trail rig.

Then forget about the 4:1 case, we dont need to crawl thru mud cuz what happens is you sink ! Id recommend at least 4.62:1 gears front and rear and sure, more horsepower for mud YES! :bounce2:
