: Narrow it or go full width?

What do you guys think. Should I narrow the body or go with full width axles.

If I narrow it I'll have to have the soft top altered, I don't know what that would cost. That's about the only draw back that I can think of. Less cargo space but that's not a big deal.

If I go full width I'd need new axles and housings for the 44 and 9". I'm also worried about how well I'd fit on some trails.

Input requested!

Narrow the body, do it, do it, do it, do it. This winter I'll be starting a narrow body experience :p

Ya know, most people just call it a diet!:flipoff2:

Edited for Tech reasons: Anyone can go fullwidth..not everyone will try narrowing a body!

Fullwidth axles suck to high hell on tight, tree strewn trails. I would go with narrowing the body myself. Keep the axles stubby. :D

do both, narrow the body, and run fullwidth 60's with hummer rims and big meats...

definately narrow it though, it's a LOT of work to do it well, but the payoff is a bronco that has a certain attitude to how it looks, everyone on my way down here to school was staring at us as they passed the bronco on the trailer...:D

I'll try to get some pics of mine up this afternoon, if I can find a digital to borrow here at school...

I'd bet on the wife. :p

Obligatory tech opinion: narrow it. With a narrowed tub and stock axles, you'll have more choices of lines on the trail... as opposed to the one barely-fits line.

Not trying to cop out, but I'm gonna have to side with the majority here. Narrowing the body is infinitely cooler.

we sectioned 3" off on easch outboard edge, right where the floorpan meets the side of the truck, so we were able to reattatch the sides on factory seam locations. the windshield frame we took 6" off of the right side, so the wiper linkage is still stock, the right wiper will just wipe closer to the right edge of the windshield. On the grill we took 13" out in 2 sections of 6.5", we took the stamped in "FO" out in one section, and the stamped in "RD" in the second section, leaving a narrow piece from the middle of the grill to join the two outer halfs. We then put on the chrome grill letters to reidentify it as a ford (not on in the photo, as we're getting ready to paint the truck). The tailgate we took a single 6" section out of the right side, as the rear mounted spare will hide the tailgate handle being offset, besides, it works great as a conversation starter...

As for diminished capacity, I don't really notice it, the seats and center console still are mounted in the same spots up front, they're just 3" closer to the outside edge of the truck. In back the space between the wheelwells is the same, as the sections ran over the wheelwells, so my rear seat still fits in the truck and everything.
