: UCA's built

After ripping a frame bracket for the rear uca off, I finally decided to quit being lazy and build the longer uppers. The regular lenght uppers worked ok, but binded up the suspension. Yardog and I worked on them for a few hours tonight and went to a construction sight to test out the flex and it improved greatly. I wish I had my camera while we were there, but for now all I have is pics of the finished product installed. Will have trail pics up soon.
Now I just need to get under there with the grinder and clean up all the old brackets and old welds. But thats no fun....

So what do you guys think? Im pretty pumped about them.

I believe they would work best if they were parallel. But hey, as long as it works, wheel it!

I would tend to agree but he has done pretty much what RE does in the rear. If it works for RE I think its gonna work for him.

i cant realy see a track bar, did you go 4 link, if so (i am no expert) it doesnt seem like your uppers are angled in enough to control tracking, but you just might not have put the track bar back on, and i also agree on the CAs being parallel

How long are they?

What angle do they run?

The track bar is still there, but not for ever. I will eventually tri the rear when I figure out how to build a bracket to the cast 44. They (uppers) are 25.5" long. It doesn't bind at all actaully. I couldn't find a ramp or rock big enough to max it out last night, but was able to flex it enough to unseat a 6" skyjacker coil. I think I could have taken it out actually. I will try to post some poser shots to show that it doesn't bind up.

You could just build a truss on the 44, or you could get 9 inch and weld all sorts of neat things to it. :D

Do you have any pics of a truss on a D44? I have thought about swapping out the rear end for a beefier one, but Im gonna stick w/ the 44 for now. Already geared and locked, works good with the 35's.

Looks good. Basically the same thing I did with Teraflex's rear upper builder kit.

So how do you like the 6" springs? Did they net a good 6" or more or less?

Right now I have their 4" coils, and they are the best I've ever wheeled on. But lately I've been draggin' ass on everything, even with the belly-up and 37s...so I've been considering going up in spring size. But I'm not quite sure I want to increase the center of gravity that much more...sometimes 4" feels too tall. Anyho, just wandering what you thought of them. I haven't really decided between the Skyjacker coils and the RE. I've heard the RE 5.5 coils can net over 6", and I don't really want to go up any higher than that. But I've also heard the skyjacker coils are running on the small side...so my thought would be that the 6" coil (if it was 5" or so) would be perfect.

Thanks.

Im not sure what they net, but I know for sure they ride lower than the RE's. Im actually thinking about trading for some RE 5.5's. Yep, it flexes a lot better now! Heres before adding the long uppers.

Just found a ramp in town to show how it flexes with the new long arm uppers. Much better!

Chili, I'll get a pic of my tuss I designed for a 44. super simple and very effective! I just don't have it at my house right now as I'm moving the truss from a 44 that's "smiling" at me to one which is not. :( when I go back to work on it ill shoot a pic.
