I will be swapping out a stock 3-speed in a '71 Bronco, and replacing it with a stock '74 Bronco C4. The '71 has a T-style transfer case in perfect shape, and I would like to keep it in the vehicle.

My question: Will a T-style transfer case bolt directly to a stock C4 intermediate housing? :homer:

I don't think so, I did the swap the other way and had to get a different intermediate housing for the 3 speed (RAT) tranny. I believe there is a "manual" and an "auto" intermediate housing You may want to check www.classicbroncos.com definitely find the info there. I did have the T shifter on the dana 20.

I do have the C4 intermediate housing to use.

The question is actually.... Does a T-style x-fer case fit on a C4 intermediate housing.

Yes it will bolt up.
IIRC the c4-d20 combo may be an inch longer. I've not positive though.

IIRC, you want to keep the tshift case because it is 2.46:1 instead of 2.23:1 in the j-shift. Besides actually shifting a hella lot better.
It will bolt up, most of the length differences were in the 6cyl vs. 8cyl swaps, again IIRC.

True about the t shift being easier to shift... until the twin stick. the twin stick mod goes on a j shift in like 7 min and the t shift in like a day.

Yes, you can remove the stock J shift that came on the back of the C4, and replace it with a T-Shift.

Aside from the lower gear ratio in the T-shift x-fer case, I wanted to retain it because it shifts perfectly, and the shifter, along with the selector, are in perfect shape.

Thanks for the replies everyone.
