: Finally getting somewhere
Maine Jeepah 08-30-2002, 10:05 AM Will be getting it in no time! :D
84 CJ, SOA, 2.5" springs, waggy 44's, spooled 4:56's front and rear, 38"x12.5 TSLs..outboarding front,gm rear disk conversion....
clocked d300,custom flat skid...
Got the rear axle under her today...need to do some fender choppin...
Working on the front outboard stuff right now...need to throw the gears in the front hook up brakes and get d shafts and shocks...
I'm gettin excited!
Yes I have plenty of spare shafts :flipoff2: going to work on some one tons for her at some point.
Just thought I'd share.
:)

phineas 08-30-2002, 10:13 AM Looks good - how do you think the d44's will do with 38's?

I think he already answered that:

DOH!

Depends on his driving ability. ;)
Maine Jeepah 08-30-2002, 10:45 AM I'm not a gas pedal maniac, I'm only running a 258...so it shouldnt be a big deal.
Worst case front u joints (although they are 5-760s), or driveshafts will be a snappin.
I can deal.
I have a good idea of the limits...just have to drive it with that in mind.
MJ:D
Charly 08-31-2002, 04:17 AM yes, those 38s make your ass look fat
pmaddy 08-31-2002, 02:24 PM Looks nice bud.
What size are tires in the pic? They look smaller than 38's
Maine Jeepah 08-31-2002, 06:09 PM they are 38x12.5 TSLs on 7" wheels.
Makes em into pizza cutters.
The wheels were essentially free so I am using them for now.
10 " wheels would make em a bit wider. ;)
The pic is kinda compressed horizontally too for some reason.
MJ
Maine Jeepah 08-31-2002, 06:12 PM another angle...thats how she sits on the rear axle with the front on jackstands.
Oh also another thought...those wheel wells have been chopped open previously...so its a bit of an optical illusion i think.
MJ:p
pmaddy 08-31-2002, 07:50 PM Looks good. I actually think the pizza cutter look is pretty cool.
Maine Jeepah 09-01-2002, 05:46 AM Yeah its cool right up to the moment you realize the center lugs are wearing away fast.
MJ
Maine Jeepah 09-01-2002, 05:59 PM "Finished" my front outboard crap today.
In this instance ugly means strong.
I shutter to think what will happen to the rest of the stock frame if I ever manage to bend this on anything.
Mostly 1/4" stock the front x-member is 1/4"x3.5" square stock.
Maine Jeepah 09-01-2002, 06:03 PM Another angle:
Gaining a couple of inches of wheelbase while I'm at it.
zachv 09-01-2002, 07:05 PM Looks nice, MJ. That is essentially the same set up I will be running in a Scrambler with a lengthened YJ frame so if you get done first let me know how it wheels. BTW, did you mention what tranny you will be running? Also, I will be running the 38X12.50 TSLs on 8s for better "tuckage" and they look pretty good on that rim. Let me know if you want a pic of the combo.
BTW, I laugh all the time at your avitar and the "mildly retarded" motto:D

Well you'll have me beat on the steeps I would presume, but I wont be dragging my assend on stuff quite as much.
:flipoff2:
My turning radius will be be a bit better too I would think. ;)
Just running a t176/d300 (clocked all the way) right now...no need to upgrade till I do a motor swap.
It is looking more and more like I am going to get a one ton chevy of some sort and just make it into a "Jeep" rather than the other way around.
MJ
zachv 09-01-2002, 08:11 PM I wont have too much ass dragging, but probably some belly dragging as I will be exteding the YJ frame 16" which will make the wheel base 6" longer than a regular Scrambler. I will be moving the wheelwells back to accomodate. This will allow me to tuck the fuel tank into the body above the rear driveshaft. Should be interesting.

What? That is really a picture of him.
Maine Jeepah 09-02-2002, 07:36 AM :emb2:
Maine Jeepah 09-13-2002, 04:33 PM Here's how she sits as of today.
Still need to make my drag link...new front brake lines, needs shocks, driveshafts, and gear oil. Oh and need to do some...trimming. ;)
Maine Jeepah 09-13-2002, 04:34 PM :D
Maine Jeepah 09-13-2002, 06:03 PM crappy pic of my high steer
zachv 09-13-2002, 07:50 PM Nice sheat, MJ! Looks like you do quality work.

"Looks like" would be the operative term here.
I'm just a hacker trying to keep up with some buddies with big rigs. No fun having them strap me around all day. ;)
This is taking me a long time, and I aint close to done...keep running into issues.
Its fun though...I like the abuse and am learning alot.
Biggest thing I've learned is to just buy a one ton truck and make it into a rock rig.
:D

Jason R 09-14-2002, 09:10 AM looks rusty and old!! :D 38"s in the rear are lookin a lil too big man. Y ou need to send those tires to me and I'll send you some 36"s mmk? PM me! ahhaha :flipoff2:
Maine Jeepah 09-14-2002, 09:30 AM rears getting competition cut here shortly...dont you worry.
You can keep your little tires. :flipoff2:
MJ
kajeepxj 09-14-2002, 10:01 AM Dang, I have to say I love the way that looks. Just looking at the rear with the front on jackstands I was kind of skeptical but it looks bada$$ man, keep up the good work!
PS - I like the matching olive drab steering linkage :D
preach 09-14-2002, 08:52 PM When you gonna add 2 cylinders?
:flipoff2:
Charly 09-17-2002, 05:42 AM I like.

Which is even more amazing since yours is identical to mine ;)
Maine Jeepah 09-17-2002, 11:46 AM :p yep thanks for the inspiration.
Imitation is the highest form of flattery. ;) At least now I know where I got the pic I was using.
I have a whole collection of outboard pics, and "yours" won the design contest. :D
Cheers.
