I am currently living in medford oregon but am considering moving to montana mainly Bozeman because of family and just want to get away from the west coast. Ive lived all over the west coast from Northern california to seattle. All I do is hunt and ride sleds and do some rock crawling. Whats it like out there. I work on power lines so i could get a job abywhere? Ive heard Bozeman is overated is that true?

I grow up in Tillamook OR and lived in WA state. The hunting in Bozeman is really good, dirt biking is awesome and the sledding is incredible, the town is by fare the most friendly place Ive ever spent any time and with the state university there there's a lot younger people here. as for the wheeling the rock crawling is fairly limited there is some timber crawling and general wheeling the snow wheeling is good (but sledding is better) if you don't mind doing a bit of driving there's some rock crawling in Rapid city SD, ID and if you've got some time there's Moab. good luck and if you head this way give me a shout.

Don't listen to Stealtoy! He's leading you into a bad time. Bozeman sucks as does the sledding, wheeling, and most of all the people!!! We're a bunch of nasty and mean bastards who hate out of staters!!! :D
Just kiddin, Stealtoy has it about right, but tell as few people as possible about Bozeman. We'll welcome you (well, your tax dollars at least) with welcome arms. :flipoff2: let us know if/when you make the move and we'll go riding/wheelin!

I grew up in WA state and lived in Coeur d'Alene and Bozeman for the last 6 years prior to moving here.
I LOVED Bozeman. People (for the most part) are very friendly. For outdoor enthusiasts, you can't beat it. It's beautiful any day of the year and there's always something going on.
I think people talk bad about Bozeman because it isn't how it used to be when it was still a smaller town. I took it for what it was and like I said, I loved it. If I ever go back, I'd probably look into living in Three Forks myself.
From what I've heard from friends back there- the economy just keeps getting worse and it's a scary time for Bozeman. Hoping it picks up for everybody there!

Better have something lined up before you move. I have been compairing housing prices to the Portland area (we will be moving there next year)and it is more expensive here in Bozeman, you get paid less, and there arn't many jobs right now and the ones that are out there are flooded with applicants.
Bozeman has turned Ski-Yuppy. The area is great but I get more turned off by the people every day.
However we could always use more wheelers to offset the greenies :D
