Just recently started working on a 1974 jeep cj 5 with a 304 5.0 v8 in it. I was wanting to know the easiest way to lift it to run 33's or 35's. Thanks for reply's.

Really long shackles would be the easiest way. Next time don't be lazy and use the search function for the 8,000 ways to clear 33"s.

Did you search or check the Official Jeep FAQ sticky with all the jeep builds in it for ideas? I know theres CJs in it. Also you don't have to lift a jeep to make room for tires......

Yes. really big shackles. Funny shit right there. Didn't even see it 'til I quoted it.
The best easy way would be a lift kit. Look 'em up They're actually pretty common.

I run a 2.5 inch lift and 33's. You can do the 4 inch and run 35's I believe.

go 4" YJ SUA, then if you decide you wanna SOA, your frame mounts are already good to go.

This (http://www.curbly.com/uploads/photos/0000/0001/1440/sawzall_large.jpg) is easier than a lift or shackles.

I agree with this.

If I had to do it again, or when I do it again, I'll be putting YJ leafs on mine.

i believe i am going to do a spring flip over. that will give me enough lift to run 33's. worried about going to much higher because of how easy they flip

I would try to stretch and go to yj or xj springs. I like http://www.ruffstuffspecialties.com/catalog/shackle-hanger-p-132.html for the shackle hangers to stretch.

I think this would improve the rough ride and stability from the short wheelbase and narrow cj springs.

Hope this helps.

Not sure where to start here.
A spring over in NOT the easiest way to fit 33s.
It is not the cheapest way either, unless you've
A- got better than average fab skills, and lots of time
B- slap together some hack fest that'd make Rube Goldberg proud.
It'll give you more lift than you need.
It'll be more tippy than a well engineered lift kit.
And besides, if you're worried about flipping, maybe you shouldn't be driving a lifted Jeep.
Is this for real, or did I miss an April Fools? If so its not a good one

i have a '74 with a 2.5" lift, no shackle lift, no body lift, and it fits 33s with ease. if your main concern is "flipping" then SOA is something you may want to reconsider. low COG and a wider footprint should be part of your gameplan...
