i was thinkin.... i need some more air volume for my oba, but i didnt get the air tank option on my bullet proof bumper when i bought it forever ago. i was thinking about maybe drilling a hole in the bumper and welding a nutt to the outside of the bumper so i can run an T for an inlet and outlet. im gonna run it inline with the other tank and its ognna be unregulated for airing tires and such. i have a regulated off the main take for the tools.
any tips tricks ya's or nay's
i plan on using a 110 mig to do the welding vs the 220 stick i dont want to burn though.
any suggestions on placement?
thanks

If you have enough flat surface on the bumber just drill a hole and tap the threads

Don't forget a gaurd...round tube or pipe makes no difference or could use square, just something to protect....its easier to tap the bumper then weld on a nut but depending on material thickness it goes either way.....

Hey DP
you know I know my way around a salvage yard
you want me to keep a look out for a tank?

bumper thickness is 3/16 i believe, i say weld a nutt to it just because i dont want to run into a problem of not having enough threads to keep it from tearing the treads and coming apart if it gets bumped or stressed.
looks like something for me to get off my a$$ and do while im waiting on parts to finish the friggin thing.
joe.... im running out of places to put stuff in the jeep i don tthink i have room for a tank. i dont have room for my exhaust let alone another tank. if you come across soemthing small let me know.

I took a 3/8 " piece of metal and tapped it and welded that on, no worries of pulling threads. My fittings are all on the backside of the bumper for protection. 2 years and no problems yet. :)

I took a 2" by 2" piece of 1/4" plate, tapped it, put in a male-male fitting, then welded the fitting in also. Then drilled a 1" hole in the bumper and welded the piece of 1/4" plate to the bumper with the air fitting going into the 1" hole.
This thing ain't goin nowhere!:D

one thing to consider is most air fittings are pipe thread so an easy way to do this is to go to the hardware store and pick up a female pipe coupler and cut it in half (their is just no reason to leave it sticking out the full lenght) then do the same thing you were thinking with the nut. and I agree with coyote, a guard is a good idea.
