i have the extended arms from Wild Horses (Made by All for fun) and wanted to know if anyone has wristed an extended arm like this. I am not getting much flex up front... Also, does the driveline angle become a problem after wristing...do you need a rc 44?
I read the 'Wristed arm party' thread and have seen Boyd's link.
Help a newbie? :D

Something most be wrong. I get alot of articulation with my extended arms. How much do you really need?

I have only run wristed but have talked in depth with people about there extended arms and I have not ever heard the need of wristing one that has been extended
Extending your arms is very similar to wristing it. By extending them, you are eliminating alot of the sway bar affect that you have with standard length. Wristing one of the arms will do little to improve what you allready have.

I have a wristed arm that works great! I have seen many extended arms that also work great. In either case, you need to make the following mods to take advantage of the "potential" in your extended arms.
1) variable rate coils- 3.5" or 5.5"
2) rubber radius arm bushings
3) shock hoops and longer shocks- Rancho 9012's or 5012's
3) longer brake lines- recommend stainless steel for durability
4) adjustable track bar with rubber bushings
5) new "C" bushings (7 degree)
I think this covers most of the basic mods required for good flex. I'm sure I missed a few and someone will chime in :)
Good luck and welcome Newbie :flipoff2:

 Correct me if I'm wrong here.....but is this a typo?????
my set-up was 'OK' in the front, but I decided to wrist one arm to get more.
Now, my shocks are not long/short enough (bottoms both ways), brake lines are too short, and my steering binds all over the place(exagerated). Oh yeah, now my coils like to 'pop' outa the bucket on the top.
For me it made a HUGE difference, I don't even have the variable rate coils, just some cheap ass BD ones.
But I guess if you have some stiff ass coils you might not get much of a difference.

Of course extended radius arms work better than the short stock ones. If you wrist an extended arm it's even better. I tried wristed at stock length and it worked OK. I tried extened without the wrist and lost alot of articulation. I finally took a hint from some of my j**p buddies that run a four link and made a set of extended wristed arms that bring the pivot point in line with the cv joint on the drive shaft and they work awesome. I'm running wild horses 3.5 springs with the longest shocks I could fit in the wheel well and I have no steering bind problems. Oh and by the way lose the bushings at the rear and use a Heim joint or Johnnie joint, they'll move alot better.

Heh, perhaps i should have worded that better. Wristing an extended arm will yeld only a few extra inches.
Use rubber c-bushings. They allow mutch more flex. And slap a hiem joint on the back of your arms. Thoes pancake style bushings sop up flex like mad.

Instead of all the guessing, I am only like an hour away from you, I can tell you why you have no flex, you can play on my ramp.
If you want to wrist that arm, i can do that for you too.
could not do it untill end of Sept though

I like long arms because your not asking 4 plug welds to hold all the torque from the pinion being pushed down.... I broke the factory plug welds on a rear and had all 8 of them... i.e. fall into a hole with weight and then pop the welds and watch your pinion go under itself.

most build their own wristed arm. Do a search for wristed arms, theres lots and lots to read. then you can make your own decision. My vote is for the wristed arm, read up and you'll see why.;)
