I have a '77 Buick V6. It's the last of the odd fires. It came with an even fire flywheel. Should I run the rare lighter even fire flywheel?

My plan is to build this engine up with a cam and some head porting. I'll also be running a mini 4 barrel carb. Wouldn't the lighter flywheel let me spin up faster?

Balance will be way off if you use the even fire flywheel on an oddfire.

Are you sure it's an even fire flywheel and not just the lighter car type oddfire?

Easy enough to tell with a picture of each side.

Run the heaver fly wheel. Larger mass is harder to stall. I have a kenne bell 225 v6 odd fire with there mark 5 cam I love it and you can put the front bumper against a tree and let the clutch out and watch it keep on chugging.

I agree, this one that was in my cj2a would lug along forever.

Yes, you can run the lighter even fire flywheel, but you will HAVE TO have it
rebalanced. Yes, the motor will rev up faster, but it will also stall easier if you
lug it while crawling. Depends on what you want to do with the Jeep.

I think I'm gonna toss it in my '45 a, after a nice build up of course. The guy I got it from wants the even fire wheel for a heavy odd fire one. I've got a cheby 3 speed bell housing too I think he wants.

Anyone run this light flywheel?

That's the car type odd-fire flywheel. The 55 lb Jeep 225 flywheel will help it lug better, but the one you have will work.

Guessing that the motor came out of a Buikc Apollo, nice score since it already has the HEI.
