my father-in-law recently bought a 1976 cj5 which the previous owner had installed a set of Yukon one piece axle shafts (narrow trac) in the AMC 20. he must have done the install incorrectly since the pass. side shaft has come out of the rear end. im a ford man, so i have NO experience with these... i was hoping someone here had some install info, so we can try to find the parts we need to complete it and do it right this time.

Sounds like the backing plate bolts have sheared off.

weve got it took apart, the bolts are fine... the bearing came off of the shaft and there was no bearing retainer to be found!

So they forgot to install it or its laying down the tube ,the bearing has a number identifying it ,order another from a bearing house and assemble same as a 9" axle, and maybe tack weld the retainer to the axle shaft.

yep they must have forgotten the retainer alltogether, since the seal and bearing is destroyed also, i figured i would just order everything excpet the shafts from a yukon dist.
