Since L.C. tail lights are the 3 bulb type (dedicated turn signal bulb), how would I wire in a 2 bulb housing (running, stop, and turn signal share the same bulb)?

They make trailer light converters to do this. Inexpensive and easy to wire up. Look in the trailer junk area of your favorite parts house. Yes, I have done this to solve the same problem.

Early L/C taillights were 1 bulb & the later ones were 3-bulb,but the 3rd bulb was for the backup lights. I had the later lights & changed to early. I used the trailer converter to wire them up. Never really worked correctly. I am now running the oval rubber mounted truck lights. I drilled a hole & added a 2nd bulb socket. So, I now have 2 bulbs in each housing.Just wired it up. I prefer 2 bulbs as to just 1 bulb doing it all.

I used diodes on mine to convert to the oval style tractor and trailer type works great. Hope this helps

I am building my rear bumber and decided on running LED type lights. Well I too ran into the problem of the three element type OE light setup. I found the converter at NAPA for $18. The number is 755-1086 "Trailer Wiring Kit". The description reads as follows: "This converter allows you to pull a trailer with combined turn/stop lamps behind your import or late model domestic car which has separate rear amber turn signals."

God I love searching through old threads and finding just what I am looking for. This board ROCKS!!!
