Let the flaming begin...
I am trying to pull my rear axles out a ways to remove my carrier and have it welded. But it seems that I am missing the point on something here.
Never have pulled the axles before. I have the caps off of the carrier, outer axle bearing cap nuts off...what just a bigger fucking hammer?

try wedging a flat-head screwdriver btwn the housing, and outer axle bearing retainer. You need to remove that retainer before the shafts will go anywhere.

Put the drum on backwards with a couple of lugs and use it as a slide hammer. It'll come right off.

You arent pulling or beating it hard enough. When you finaly get the axle out try putting it back in and see if it goes into the carrier with out much effert, If it doesn't the housing might be bent.

RokHeep...right on...
Axles are out!!! now how hard do you have to beat on the fucking carrier?
It is a good thing that I am pulling this carrier and welding it up...had some broken spiders!
Any tricks to getting the carrier out?
This board rocks...
put a big screw driver in the carrier by the spider gears so it hits the housing when the carrier is rotated. Rotate the carrier untill it is stopped with the screw driver wedged at the top of the housing opening. now put a prybar on the head of one of the ring gear bolts at the bottom of the housing opening and pry the carrier out. It will pop right out. Be sure to keep track of the shims on each side of the carrier. They are a select fit shim and need to go back in the same spot.
