ok, i was running the numbers on the supposed dana 60 (full float) that i picked up last month, and it turns out that its a d61.
so i should be able to go with 1.5" 35 splines no prob since the spindles are the same id as a d70....
not a bad deal for 50 bucks. :D
anyone have any experience with d61's?

Do a search and you will see the common issues. You will have to run a ring gear spacer to use D60 R&P. I would just use the axle for the outters and put them on a D60 or 9" with 35 spline axles. I am not a huge fan of ring gear spacers.

I have never heard that D61 spindles are any different than a D60. I bet your going to need to bore the spindles and run a ring gear spacer to boot!

no, the D61 spindles have the same OD as a regular D60, but the ID to run 35-spline shafts.
I used to have 2 of them, got them cheap, sold them before I knew *too* much about them....
yes, spacer required to run D60 gears, or you can D61 gears, just a limited selection.....
$50 is a good deal, if its the width you need/want, run it, if you need to narrow it, do as Rockslut sujested and swap the tubes into into a more "common" center section....
yea, i was doing some searching, and it seems that sandy cone of cone ind. is the d61 guru. he produces some spools and 40 spline shafts for them.... it sure beats the 30 spline axles that came with it.
i'm most likely going full width,
