Thinking about using a Chevy box instead of Toyota, with '76 Suburban tie rod ends.

It's not which year, but which one. You want a two wheel drive box....... damn near any year.

Mid 70's GM fullsize cars have the 4 bolt box. There is a 76 cast into the box. Usually the best box to use. I'm sure there are other applications with that box.

Yep, you want a 2x4 box, one thing to keep in mind though, the input and output hoses changed from standard to metric some time around the early eighties, can't remember which year off-hand.

Yeah, like Steve said. 2WD box. from 65' to 79' GM used Flare fittings. From 80 and up, they used O'ring fittings. You need a box that uses the same style fitting as your pump. I hear that Flare fittings are better b/c no O'rings to go bad....

If you do get the differnt box then what you have napa can switch the end coming from the pump. I converted my fitting for $10 or so from o ring to flare.
the steering input shaft also changed diameter and spline count between 76-77
