View Full Version : What to do in Attica after Badlands?
Since the trails shut down at Five, whats there to do for entertainment in the evenings? Don't mind a short drve to another town if theres something going on but don't want to venture to far away. Going Easter weekend ( don't suggest Church :D ), anyone else going that weekend?
Do a bar crawl. There is a handful of bars...all within walking distance of each other. You'll be able to check out the local talent and maybe even a live band.
It's been years since I've been there, never went any place in town other than the Diner and a parts run. Bar with a Band sounds like a good start, I'll check it out.

Robies has killer food, try the tater balls and say hello to Barbie. Extremely friendly waitress and hot. Nice bar.
I know you not asking but the Crossroads for breakfast is very fast and good. The place always looks packed but it isn't.

our club has been there many times, IMO robies is probably the best overall food, resonably priced, and stumbling distance from all the rest of the bars. there is one biker bar in town, hotel attica and a couple other places in that old section of "downtown" i'm sure theres other places around town, but it's a pain to drag a friggin trailer all over town when ya have no idea where you're going lol theres the campground outside the badlands ( no alcohol) and theres summer ? campground back out towards 41/63 about 10 miles from the badlands stayed there a couple times several years ago ample parking for trailers ect. and seemed like nice people. hotel attica is right in town too rooms are resonably priced, but small, good prime rib/ filet on fri sat nite, and jeff ( the owner) will sit and drink with ya all nite long. and as an added plus he's got ample parking across the street from the hotel for your rigs. the parking lot there is large enough for 6 or 7 trucks and trailers.

i use to think that all of the venders in attica would be totally fed up with the "offroaders" but honestly, we are the lifeblood of that town!
i have only had one bad expierience with a citizen of attica and that was at the bp when we were trying to see out our windows:laughing:

Ended up going to Robies, I remembered it when I saw it while crusing around town looking for somewhere to go. Good food, friendly folks. Hotel Attia looks like a spot I'll try next time, Prime Rib sounds good.:)
Side note: Got pulled over by the Local Police for not having tail lights (fuse blew for some reason:confused:). Second time I've been pulled over in Attica, which is rare for me, and for the second time I was given a friendly warning. Hats off to the local PD for being cordial and reasonable, good example for other LEO's IMHO.

they normaly wont be there much during the week

Just send them an email to reserve a spot - it may take a couple days, but they will respond and give you a confirmation.
--
Careful though - they are still kind of jerks, just got back on Sunday night, stayed a couple nights and got yelled at by the guys a couple times for being to loud - so do not plan on partying too much!

half tempted to drive there tomorrow for dinner...

I've been going to the Badlands since the late 90s and I've never felt welcome anywhere in that town outside of the Badlands park.
Whether it's the snotty high school girls at the Subway to the hillrods at Robie's that act like we're going to try and steal their women ...
Whenever we're looking for a good time away from the camp fire, we head over to Lafayette (college town).

Not trying to be an azz here and certainly understand how a chip on someones shoulder could get a little heaver over time but maybe you could try a clean sheet of paper with a better attitude. Maybe you would love the town as much as our Cult/group does. Never any issues for us. I love Barbie errrr a aaaa Attica, lol....
Peace
Gary
My group/cult/band of brothers has given that town more chances than it deserves to treat us right. I'm not exagerating when I say that I've/we've been frequenting the Badlands since the late 90's. For years, we were literally down there one weekend a month.
If the townies have been good to you, rock on.
To those that haven't yet experienced Attica, I say, "give them an honest, fair chance." But if they give you a cross-eye or mistreat you once, don't give them a second chance. Give your hard earned money to those that work for it.

I grew up next to Attica. I have always felt comfortable there -- just talk to people. I still have quite a few friends there. Any small town will have its fair share of local assclowns hanging out.
There is a movie theater in town if you have your family. I love the food specials at Attica Hotel, Robie's is prob the best bang for the buck tho, and there is a pizza place that constantly changes owners right off 40 as you come into town from the Veedersburg area (its very close to the park entrance actually). The Pizza Hut is always a sure thing if you are looking for a place for food and beer. The bars are always a good time if you are with your buddies, but the local PD have no tolerance for drunk driving -- and they know who is coming and going from the park. If you drink, take it easy on the main drags.
There are a few campgrounds outside of Attica, and a few small parks/hiking trails within 15 to 20 miles. We used to go to Shades State Park or Turkey Run for a day or two with our girlfriends to hike or canoe, then wheel all day at the Badlands. The campgrounds at Shades arely bother you unless you are REALLY loud and obnoxious (or setting off fireworks).

If you go in with a bad attitude, expect the town to treat you the same. I generally have more issues inside the park than in the town. I rarely go through without getting stopped by park security for unknowingly doing something wrong. The hours are terrible as well, but worth it for the terrain and fun. If I feel like wheeling only, Badlands is where its at. If I feel like wheeling and drinking/partying, I head to Haspin Acres.

I'd say same reason why I won't be when I finish my truck. 39.5 Tire size rule. Wheelbase restrictions , and dB level checks , and exhaust restrictions.
Im 30 mins away. And Have 42's

yeah i was wondering about how strict they were with those rules... i assumed that the db checks were for dirt bikes and quads... and the 40" thing, i thought they would let 42's slide, seeming how they are like the most common tire size nowadays... but the strict closing time and no camping facilities kind if turned me off, what if you busted yo shit, you have 30 mins to fix it then what?!?

Dont get me wrong its a cool place but they are not enforcing all rules. There are bigger tire guys but they work with the park. If you broke your shit stuff is different . I have been there after hrs for that reason.

Alright ... I'm gonna' eat some of my words here.
While I still stick to the accurate decription of my past experiences in Attica, I did have a couple great ones this weekend.
Pizza Hut ... dinner Sat evening ... young lady served us well, asked us if we were at the Badlands, asked where we were from, friendly, cordial conversation. Great service and good, fast food. Two thumbs up !!
Uncle B's diner (the one with the giant chicken on their sign) ... breakfast Sun morning ... we were the only ones in the restaurant. Older gal served us ... again asked if we were at the Badlands, kept our coffee hot and topped off, asked where we were from ... served us well and the food was excellent!
Next time in Attica, I know where I'll be eating.
