: Seats
roczuk 04-07-2009, 05:17 PM ok I searched, didn't find much.
which seats are you running in your samurai? or have you run in your samurai.
post a pic with the info on what seat it is.
I'm in need of a narrow seat and want to see what other seats you guys are runnin or ran.
I hear civic seats are pretty damned narrow.
csmith24 04-07-2009, 05:49 PM Mid 90's cavalier. Easy to build mounts because the bottoms mount flat. Plus they are an easy find at the pick n' pull.

x3, they're cheap, and they feel like it.
desert runner 04-07-2009, 07:33 PM I put some Beard seats in my sami a few months ago.I wouldn't run anything except a suspension seat again.

I'm 6'1 & weigh as much as you and I hate them. Found a set of stockers and run them... If i could find a set of WRX seats i'd run them though.
benttoy 04-08-2009, 06:14 AM PRP the only way to go
roczuk 04-08-2009, 09:01 AM thanks guys keep the picks and info coming.
in all honesty, in the end i'll have the same seats ive run in my last rigs which are the PRP comp seats. they are cheaper than the like and they are narrower.
right now though I'm low on funds and want to get this out on the trail so a narrow JY seat will have to do.
can you guys post pick from the front looking in so I can see if the space between the seat and the B Pillar area will work for me.
thanks again.

supazuk94 04-08-2009, 09:05 AM I have the mid 90's cavalier seats very comfortable even on long trips, however now that i have no real top or doors my only grip is that they are not vinyl.
ShuDuck 04-08-2009, 10:17 AM Don't think these where sold in the US, but for the rest they are great seats, no welding to install and they have good side support. I will install a set in my other zuk as well. They are out of a Skoda felicia pickup. other vw cars might have the same seats, not sure
roczuk 04-08-2009, 04:46 PM well I went to the local junkyard today and measured all kinds of import seats and really liked the Jetta/golf seats but they have some wierd mounts and chose not to get them because I really don't want to spend much time on mounting.
I found that the honda prelude seats are the narrowest seat in the junkyard and also have to most supportive boltsers.
I'll report back when I install them.
thanks guys.

crashnzuk 04-09-2009, 05:57 PM I had PRPs in mine and then switched to a set of used Rugged Ridge replacement seats before I sold it. Those were great seats, not cheap but looked stock and were comfy.

jerseyzuks 04-12-2009, 02:50 PM My brother scored a set of brand new camaro seats a couple of years back. We were driving down the road, and a guy was gutting his interior and installing light weight racing seats. Asked him what he wanted for the seats, he said we could have them.
They are mighty comfy in a Zuk :smokin:

Looked around for a little while and found what you were talking about. Does anyone have any information about these seats?

The 23" wide is what makes me think they will almost be touching
roczuk 04-13-2009, 10:28 AM I ended up picking up Honda Prelude seats on Friday and installed them on Saturday.
they fit just right.
I found that the Miata seats were an even better choice for narrowness but there was only 1 Miata around and the seats were far from usable.
I'll post pics & dimensions today.
dabomb5756 04-13-2009, 12:27 PM Does anyone know the width between the targa top about where the seats are? Maybe the width between the two seatbelt spools on each side?
BCzuk 04-13-2009, 12:38 PM Does anyone know the width between the targa top about where the seats are? Maybe the width between the two seatbelt spools on each side?Inside to inside half way up the targa (about mid way of the stock seat) is roughly 47" Same goes for the bottom

Roxtar 04-13-2009, 03:28 PM Corbeau Forzas are very narrow.
Does he have all colors and models left?

T_MADD 04-17-2009, 09:39 PM I've ran preludes and liked them alot. I have Corbeau baja's now and love them. I'd probably still have the prelude seats but I wanted to use harnesses.
rockandroll 04-19-2009, 05:08 PM I used MR2 seats from the bone yard.http://i29.photobucket.com/albums/c270/wielro/Suzuki/WalllowaStatePark05022.jpg
Pietro 04-19-2009, 06:03 PM I think the max width you could probably run is 21-22" at the waste area. It gets smaller up top too because the targa bar narrows up at the top. I just bought a set of Corbeau's from Quadratec. $440 a pair. Hopefully I can get them in by next weekend and post up some pics. Doing some measuring, not a whole lot of aftermarket seat options as most have a width just a few inches too wide and most have very wide backs that stick out far that will interfere with the seatbelt and targa.

One more vote for GTi seats, currently in my zook. There's probably better out there, but they're the best of a few different types I've run so far. I'd like to try an aftermarket race type seat someday...but not the cheapo plastic ones...been there, done that. Surprisingly comfortable at first, but less than ideal for long days.
tdavis 04-20-2009, 11:54 AM Mastercraft Baja RS's, with lumber support and three position, integrated head rest.
Seriously expensive (almost more than the value of my zuk), but they totally change the feel of the ride.
Best seat I've ever had.

Picked up my seats today. They seem pretty good. Not as comfortable as the Corbeaus in my buggy but Im happy with them. The seat backs make you sit pretty straight up and down so I am going to mount them on a bit of an angle to help with that
Pioneers18 12-19-2009, 08:51 PM any one running xj seats

LittleBlackSambo 12-22-2009, 09:31 AM bad pic, but it's what i had... got the buckets for $50 at a summit racing yard sale. they weren't marked with a price, so the said to make an offer... it was my lucky day. despite what some folks say, they are very comfortable. with the standard seat covers and crow 4-point crawler harnesses, i couldn't be more pleased. the high sides cradle really well, they keep me in place at all wild angles.

edit: mikeb273, i just noticed your signature says "drunk". is that what was going on when you ordered the hot pink with houndstooth twill seat covers?

Nope, those seats are exactly what i wanted! I didnt want the plain bullshit that everyone else has.
BTW...i had a set of the plastic buckets before, and they are not too bad but they sure make a long day seem even longer! I am really glad i will never have to ride in them again!

i bought a set of these exact seats about a year ago from an ebay store for $175 delivered, they were originaly going to be for my dodge but i decided not to mess with it cause the factory seats were fine, so i threw them in my sammie project. i mounted the sliders directly to the floorpan to get them as low as possible because im about 6' 4'' and want this thing to be as low profile as possible. anyway they are wide enough that it is a really tight fit and its hard to use the recline levers because they are hitting the trans tunnel. not to mention that the seats are about 2-3" out of alignment with the steering wheel, not a big deal to me but you notice it when you sit in it. i am planning on spending a little more time reworking the back of the trans tunnel to get everything in line and easier to use. also the bolsters on the seat are thick enough that they get in the way of the range box shifter on a shogun box and the twin sticks for the sammie case. i will post up pics next time im in the garage

Fargo33 12-29-2009, 07:36 PM my seats , removed all the factory mounts and bolted them down to the floorboards. i like how low they sit now but just not a good fit
