I am in the process of redoing my rig. My wife and I have been talking about narrowing the picnic table known as my hood, and the frontend. I don't drive my rig on the street that much but do like to be able to drive around Big Bear and places like that some times. My question is simple....Is a pinched frontend street legal? The fronts of the tires will be exposed.

I don't see why it would be ilegal , worst case I think would be to have to add mudflaps to the front .

welcome to modifying vehicle in the great republik of Commiefornia start reading http://www.dmv.ca.gov/pubs/vctop/vc/vc.htm
http://www.dmv.ca.gov/pubs/vctop/d12/vc27600.htm tread has to be covered - so no it wouldn't be legal without fender flares and likely mud flaps.. would you get cited for it?? depends on how you drive and what kind of cop pulls you over.

well thank you very much for the link. It appears that if I only expose the front of my tire, I will be ok. It states that I have to prevent debris and water from being thrown backwards.. The rear of my fender will still cover my tire and I don't have severe offset wheels so they fit under my fenders now.
